Belle,
Sometimes putting a parent in an institution is the hardest thing in the world to do for a child. I had to call the police on my dad when he was threatening to commit suicide, and he was taken into custody and put into a mental health hospital. When I called him, he yelled at me and accused me of having him arrested. After a few days and some counseling, I was able to pick him up and bring him home. He was suffering from depression at the time because my mom had left him. In the end it was the best thing to do, because then he wasn’t unloading on me and he was able to get some professional advice. So, my prayers are with you, because as I said, it isn’t easy to become your parent’s parent and have them admitted to a mental health hospital, but in the end, it may be the best thing for you and your dad. Good Luck. BTW, my parents were able to reconcile.

Dad says he’s not going to take her abuse anymore, but I don’t think he’s really doing anything to get her help.
I think I’m gonna try the court thing.
I got instructions from a mental hospital.
It starts by me calling my county’s prosecuting attorney.
gulp
Shall I?
OH, how hard it is to be in your situation. The emotions and thoughts you must have sometimes are a cross in themselves.
But, you need to do this. You mother is in no state to not get help. She could be dangerous to herself or another. And if that happened, that you be so hard to life with for you. I knew a man who was schizo. It was my husband of 21 yrs. I was told for 5 yrs by priests and therapists I would go talk to,that I have to leave him , I didn’t and he poisoned my food, took all my inheritance, I lost my home, money dogs, etc. and tried to kill me by hiring bikers since poison did not do it. I finally listened to everyone and moved across the usa. Where I lived, way up north in the woods there was not even a place to bring him to, and it was good ole boys with cops who liked him and of course they knew everyone at the court house and city hall and the few lawyers up there and my hands were tied.
You have the means to help your mom. She needs this. She IS a danger to herself and others. That is one thing I just could not get through my head for5 yrs. I hope you understand this now. You are being a loving daughter to help her. I understand it is so hard on you,but you your love for your mom will make you strong. She needs you now.

God Bless you for your courage,
Spirit

Ok well, first thing is first. Get her help. Period. If she won’t do it, then you do it for her and make her go. You do this for her because you love her and because you care for her. Honestly I can’t say that staying away from her would help you in any way. But every person is different… For me I can be around millions of bad people and not be influenced in any way but not everyone is like that. I would handle my mother’s emotional abuse because I understand that it’s not her fault and that she is suffering and that it’s all mental… that’s why I would stay with her, love her, care for her, and pray for her until she gets better no matter what it would take I would never abandon her i would accept the abuse and offer it up to Jesus since she can’t seem to control it. This is extremely difficult. But as a Catholic, I think you should do it. And it will take an immense amount of prayers and sacrifices, but hang in there for great will be your reward. Now, if you really can’t handle it, then get her help. it’s the least you can do for her. You are in one tough situation and are definitely in my prayers. Good luck, God bless, have Faith.
P.S. Update us (if you want, of course) that way me as well as others can keep praying for you and give you more advice. We support you. Hang in there, bud. 👍

Sometimes a need for intervention is a must…AND she is in need of it…Have you spoken with her doctor or your father with her doctor? Is there anyway you can have a doctor visit your mother at home and maybe start her on some treatments to help her out?

GOD bless you, hang in there, good luck and I will keep you in my prayers!
