I can't find God

Yeah I’m not looking to see God physically, but just to feel His presence again. I do know someone who claims she saw Jesus, it was my grandma. When my dad was a kid, he had extremely bad asthma and went to the ER almost every night. He was on a lot of medicine. One day, my grandma was in the kitchen, she said Jesus appeared and told her that her son would get better. Then later that day, her son said he didn’t think he needed medicine that day. Since then he barely has asthma. But that’s just what my grandma said so I’m not sure. It would be a miracle to see God or Jesus, but right now I’m just looking for clarity, because I can’t feel God

Luke 4:1
Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

In the Spirit Go and find Jesus alone. This is a grace.

Peace

I say: God sometimes speak through someones own thoughts and conscience.

You have a beautiful faith and devotion to God! Hang in there with him. Understand certain things that are facts, and not simply subjective feelings: God is omnipresent. He is always there with you. He couldn’t leave you if you wanted to. He literally never takes his eyes off you. He stores up all your tears in his bottle, and you are carved in the palm of his hand - remember those scripture verses? But what may be happening, is he may be stirring up in you a desire to connect with Him more frequently and at a deeper level, than you have so far – which is a good thing. He wants more than to just watch you and be with you; he wants to be lighting up your insides, an integral part of your very heart and soul.

He walks with you always, not because he has to, but because he wants to and he really likes to. You may not be feeling the truth of this right now, and yet, it is absolutely true, because that is who he is. He can’t help himself; he’s just crazy about you.

We all go through periods of dryness. They’re absolutely essential to growing in faith. It’s like lawns…dry seasons make the roots grow deeper to look for water further down and strengthens the plant. We are exactly the same. When we experience spiritual dryness, we are forced to fight harder and go deeper to look for Him. When we do, our roots go deeper and we grow stronger. He allows for these seasons for our benefit. I personally went through 10 years of this. It SUUUUUUCKED. Almost walked away a few times. I can say this though - these seasons DO end, and the only thing you can really do is practice faithfulness. Keep praying, keep going to adoration, keep going to Mass. Even if you’re just going through the motions because it’s all you can manage, think of the widow with the two coins. Even if two copper coins is all you have, you give it all and it’s worth more to God than all the wealth others have. He’s always near to us, we just have to be faithful! 🙂 <3

Maybe spend some time with a religious order or spend more time with good practicing Catholics and less time with those who don’t practice. God will be in those folks.

My dad used to tell this story about an old farmer and his wife. Every Saturday they would get in the pickup truck and go to town for shopping. This was an old truck with a bench seat.

One Saturday on the way home, Mrs Farmer was looking out the window and said “I remember when we used to drive to town and you would have your arm around my shoulders and I’d rest my hand on your knee. Why are we now on the opposite sides of the truck?”

The old farmer said “I have not moved”.

God has not moved. He is still there, in the driver’s seat.

If you are searching for God you have to do something.

I have found a profound sense of peace in doing voluntary work and helping other people; often with very challenging situations.

Some say this tiny breeze is found when doing the examen of conscience (both the daily and tge one before Confession).

For by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God

Not as a result of works so that no one may boast

Ephesians 2:8-9

I said I see God in God’s people. I did not say anything trees and other things.

I’m in a somewhat similar situation. I’m in the process of converting and there are times where I feel God, but then there are times where it feels like I’m totally on my own. And it’s been interfering with my ability to focus when I pray

Hi @b04b03
This feeling and situation you described happened to me. It was so scary. I felt so hollow inside. When I first felt this feeling, I intensified prayers, went for morning masses but I just couldn’t hear from God or feel his presence. I then became lukewarm in my faith. I felt God abandoned me so I stopped my devotion. Although by habit, I still worshipped Him in prayer but I stopped attending Mass, reading scripture etc. This continued from February 2018 to December 1 2018. My friend took me to New York where we attended an Underground Catholic adoration night with the Franciscan Friars. I received the Holy Spirit, I felt it so strong I was moved to tears. So I agree with other ppl saying to try benediction/adoration. While I’m still convinced that God stepped away from me last year, I’m just happy he’s back.
Everyone else saying God never leaves must never have felt this emptiness we experienced. Isaiah 54:7 Stay blessed and remember, some of the greatest saints wrote about this same feeling of abandonment
