I can't keep the Sunday obligation...advice?

I work as a medic, so there are times where I’m stuck at work beyond my regular 24 hour shift (late calls, working an additional 24 hours on the weekend) and am unable to attend weekend masses. Priest told me it was fine and to attend when I was able to. I like to attend a week day mass, if I’m able, to feel as though I’m getting the most out of my faith. There’s ways around it. But I would recommend talking with your Priest regarding it!

I don’t know why everyone doesn’t do this before coming here to ask strangers what the Church teaches. The laity have absolutely no right to interpret Church Law and Doctrine, so why not take your questions to those who do? Or maybe OP already asked a priest and got ask answer that he didn’t want… God comes first, and He is our provider, not some corporation (fiction of man’s law)

Dobro veče. Actually I never ‘got an answer I didn’t want’ so to speak. Part of the problem for me is that I’m not a regular member of a church, and this was partially down to the problem I describe in the OP, of finding I was unable to make a certain church’s Mass time on a regular basis. In this instance I felt it best for me to ask here on CAF because given the pressures on priests time, I felt it was not the best plan to approach them where asking knowledgable people here on this forum gave me the answer I looked for.

Plus now I am more knowledgable, it will be easier for me to approach a priest and tell them “I’ve been told xyz, is this right?”.

My husband’s in the same boat as you. He is working 6-7 12 hour days and our priest said for him to do the best he could do. His employer thinks they need to run 24/7. Now the past 3 weeks I have specifically prayed and asked the Lord to please make a way for Joe to be off so he could go to Mass with me. The first weekend he was to work all weekend a man asked if he would like him to work for him that Sunday. So he was able to go with me. then the next weekend they gave them the whole weekend off. Then this weekend I had prayed the same way and he just texted me that one of their temps had asked if he would like for him to take his place tomorrow.

my work involves working sundays and so I usually go to mass on Saturday evenings if working the sunday. I at one time could not make mass and I asked my priest what should I do he said make sure you read the sunday gospel and pray and if I could attend a mass during the week I should. the weekday mass would not be my sunday obligation. the priest was a great help at that time and often meet me in the church and we would pray or he would talk about the gospel. it is very difficult to work sunday and attend mass thank god I now only work 1 in every 4.
