I could NEVER be a Catholic because

even though we are to bow to no-one but God.
My friend, I am curious where you get this idea from. I have witnessed pianists bow to their audience, I have witnessed fully grown sound-minded men get on their knees before a woman who obviously means a lot to them with proposition in mind as violins played Mozart. Do you think maybe there could be a possibility you are turning a cultural norm into a religious expectation? Greet one another with a holy kiss? I find that a difficult concept culturally.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.

There is a priesthood, (not preisthood). That began when God took the children of Israel out of Egypt and made the first-born son the priest, which got stripped from them early on with the incident of the golden calf, at which point the priesthood got transferred to the tribe of Levi, but that was never to be the ideal situation, the children of Israel were redeemed from that situation, thanks to the workings of Jesus Christ, and the priesthood once more belonged to the first-born male son.

The Catholic Church does not interpret, the Catholic Church just listens to God, and acts accordingly. She will not listen to culture, but is empathetic to the culture surroundings she might come in contact with.

Having said that, I am curious as to why you feel the priesthood should incorporate female, serving what purpose? The reason I ask is because I went to my local Catholic library, and the librarian, who I value dearly as a friend, explained to me that she was not Catholic because the Catholic Church was too male. I had never really considered my gender as being relevant to my Faith prior to that, I am just simply a man seeking books to read, within the context of my Faith.

I am a male and am not a priest. If you could tell me how the Catholic Church degrades women, pray tell. I personally respect the fact that I am not a priest, and I personally respect my priest, Father Joy.

How much ownership do you want?

The Catholic Church does not exclude women. In fact there is “Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art though among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus, Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.”

I could never be a non-Catholic. I am too devoted to the one true Church.

Well, you’re half right.
The Episcopal church derives from the Church of England which was founded by King Henry VIII. Your religion was brought over from England to the American colonies and formed a separate religion founded by Samuel Seabury in 1789.

None of them had blonde hair either. Does that mean no blondes should be allowed to be priests? What about disabilities. Where there any missing any limbs? No, not that we know of. Does that mean someone with that type of disability should be barred from the priesthood?

Of course they were all men. Think of the times.
Women would have been stoned to death. Why does the Church take the leap to interpret that God meant not for women to be priests, ever, at any point in time???
Hair color has nothing to do with the priesthood. Name one woman, just one that Jesus ordained as a priest. You won’t find one.

Were the Twelve Apostles female? No. Women supported and financed the ministry but did not become priests. If Jesus had wanted females to be in that position, He would have ordained Mary of Magdela or one of the other women there. He could have ordained His own MOTHER if He had wanted females to be in that position.

Since you are an Agnostic, why are you so eager to change something in the Catholic Church that Christ Himself instituted? If you want to be a member of a church with females in leadership, the Methodist church will welcome you with open arms. So will any church that has a female pastor.

You can also watch shows like Marilyn and Sarah or Joyce Meyer on TBN or any other religious channel if you want to see female preachers.

As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Joshua 24:15)

I just do through private struggle. I don’t believe anything Hinduism and Buddhism teaches about it but I cannot state I don’t believe returning to be possible. As a fact of return in human form only. I would lie to admit I strongly believe what I should. But even it is real it is a useless belief, i believe that. St. Paul told to hold on to those beliefs that are useful. I know it is useless but can’t stop.
I am a heretic here. Can’t help it. My pride is just too strong it hurts.
Let me be clear - the idea that I might have to return here in this world does not enchant me one bit. It scares me maybe more than hell. Hell is payment is justice for what I have done evil. It is well deserved for me who argued with God many times. But to have to come back here start from scratch be a baby again, is so scary. Maybe God lets me believe it to punish me? Or I am just too weak.
Pray for me please. I just want to be honest about my beliefs. I can’t just say I am convinced since I am not.

First, the Episcopal Church is a denomination of Christianity, not a separate religion. I could probably find offensive yet technically correct terms to refer to your ecclesial community, too.
Second, so what? God uses imperfect people. If I was Catholic I’d probably want to stay that way, but I’m not. It seems you just want to denigrate what you can’t own.

The laying of the hands was interrupted and consecration does not take place.

You are greatly mistaken. Please research the history and origins of your church. And please note that I did not say that your church wasn’t a denomination of Christianity, which is the religion every Christian whether Catholic or Protestant, belongs to.

Also, I never said that God didn’t use imperfect people. We are all imperfect. So what is your issue?

And what is it you think I “want to denigrate”? All I did was give the origins of your church. Sheesh!

Paul said something quite different. Rather than hold on to beliefs that are useful, he says to learn what Christ truly taught. And that those truths are what save us, indeed free us, from any evil we have done and from fear of Hell.

“2 Timothy 3: 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, 15 and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.”

Yes, I pray for you. That the Holy Spirit will gently guide you in hearing God’s voice in scripture. 🙏

Edit to add: Do not be afraid to argue with God. Jacob in the Old Testament wrestled with God and demanded:

“… “I will not let you go, unless you bless me.” (Genesis 32:26)

You’re right, I thought I was replying to “buffalo”. Sorry. My reply might make more sense if you consider his earlier reply to me.

I could NEVER be a non-Catholic because…the Catholic Church is the true Church

Edit: I answered the opposite question 🤔

The Catholic Church does not exclude women.
It excludes women from the official hierarchy.
Shakuhachi, Jesus did that too. I mean the community is a social structure and it is the pattern of the nucleus of society. The family.

The way I look at it is that 100% of women are excluded from the Church structure, and 99.99% of men are excluded from the Church structure.

The main reason that I am not Catholic is because Jesus has not called me to be so. I have studied and read a lot, and had many hours of conversations with knowledgeable priests, sisters, deacons and others. I have prayed and attended mass and explored everything I could, and yet I have not found my heart “strangely warmed” and moved towards Catholicism.

However, I’m following Christ and doing the best I can.

Pax et Bonum
