I might suggest that you do some serious research on what “infallibility” means. I’ve found that not only do most non-catholics not know what infallibility means, but possibly the majority of Catholics don’t know the proper definition of infallibility. And, by the way, not only is the Pope infallible, so is the RCC when its bishops speak in one voice on a matter of faith and morals. The Church, as a gift of the Holy Spirit, teaches infallibly on matters of faith and morals.

I would also include the role of the Pope but I’m still exploring that topic.
 
Short answer YES; …BUT do you actually know the conditions for a POPE to declare a INFALLIBLE Dogma?
  1. It has to be declared as an Infallible Teaching from the “chair of Peter” [with the authority of Peter] declared as such
  2. It has to announced to be as a NEW Teaching that IS a Infallible proclamation
  3. It has to be specifically intended for the ENTIRE WORLD
  4. It has to be on a matter of Faith or Morals nothing else
However for the Pope to speak infallibly it has ONLY to be a Teaching that conforms to the Ordinary Magisterium’s Sacred Tradition, and be on either Faith or Morals.; which is to say that it is NOT a NEW teaching; but a clarification of an established TRUTH already defined.

So if your asking can ANY “Catholic” refuse to accept and believe any NEW defined teaching of Faith or Morals only [there has only been ONE in over 100+ years.], the answer is NO.

Such a [position willingly & knowingly taken] unless repented and rescinded would be self inflicted hell.

That main reasons as ive researched Catholicism lately is that the Pope allows himself to be worshipped as if he is above others and in perfection, there are many pictures displaying people bowing down to him, or kissing his hand. He doesn’t reject this but instead accepts it, even though we are to bow to no-one but God. I also do not agree with the prayers to saints, it is very strong in Catholicism and I feel there is more importance placed on that then building a true relationship with Christ through prayer. Overall, as I’ve stated in another forum I believe the Catholic church leans heavily on tradition and doctrine as a first resource and less on the Bible which I believe to be the true and full Word of God- our FIRST resource for guidance along with prayer to Christ . Those are just my thoughts, hope everybody has a great and safe weekend!
 
Sheesh. It’s a discussion question that’s all. Nothing more, nothing less. I wouldn’t peer into PJM’s personal life with the thread.
 
It is an apostalate and apologetics thread intended to encourage people with objections to voice their difficulties so they might be responded to by the catholic community here.

What’s the objective of the thread? To create a laundry list of deeply held objections to the Catholic Faith? Then what?
 
No, Patrick meant the objections to be responded to on a post by post basis, not as a list. That’s the way some of his threads have been in the past. … as a means of evangelization.
 
Probably not the environment in which to tackle a belief so strongly held as to support an assertion that one could “never” become Catholic.
 
I’m not sure why some question the motive behind this post. Objective posting is apparently more important than subjective posting. Listening to people voice their position is a way of umm dialogue. And when did dialogue become so taboo?
 
And at what point in history did “evangelization” become such a dirty word that we would become embarrassed by it?
 
Because I have no reason to believe that any religion is correct, and I believe the evidence shows that the lineage of Christianity trails back to Judaism, which trails back to Canaanite paganism.

Because the philosophical arguments thrown around by apologists are, in my opinion, bad and easily defeatable. Or at the very least, easy enough to show a fair bit of skepticism.

And because I don’t see any bullet-proof reason why I should prefer Christianity over any other religion. And no bullet-proof reason to think any religion holds water.

Though let me balance this by saying, I don’t see any bullet-proof reason it HAS to be wrong. So… I guess I’ll see when I die.
