The devil has come to this place to challenge me openly. You then in turn side with the devil. The devil says side with me and I shall bring you peace.

I suspect the faithful have a form of intelligence that is absent in atheists. I suspect it is a spectrum disorder much like autism is. Some atheists are more hopeless than others. The reason I believe that it goes unnoticed is that its absence has little effect in general on job performance. I also suspect my claim can be validated scientifically. I noticed this studying the work of atheists in logic and mathematics. I suspect the atheists were driven by an inability to grasp various mathematical concepts with ease. I suspect they have a form of mental retardation. They doubt because they cannot see. They suspect that you may be delusional. On the other hand, you have little reason to doubt it because to you it is as plain as your hand in front of your face. It is a hypothesis that I would like to test and a hypothesis I believe could be tested.

Just think if you could prove it scientifically.

Tip #154 in evangelizing to atheists: Don’t call them unintelligent, autistic, hopeless, innumerate, delusional people with forms of mental retardation. 😃

General tips? Live a model Christian life. None of us can ever convert someone on our own. It is the work of God. Let them see what a Christian truly is, not some of the crazy ones who make the news.

I’ve pitched this already to the atheist community. Get someone they don’t already respect at some level to say it and it will likely fall on deaf ears. I’m giving you the cliff notes, but they tried to attack it logically and what I wrote become increasingly believable in their minds as they proceeded. A true atheist realizes that it is a trap to get involved with the emotive components of an argument. No wonder you converted.

My work has been field tested.

In John 9 I wrote,

I alluded to this paradox in another thread that is now missing. I wrote, “Next to Our Holy Mother I am a brute. She is considerably more tactful, but she is close to God in a way that it is doubtful that I could ever be.” …

I am unfamiliar with the work of C.S. Lewis though I often see him quoted in theological discussions. I know that he was a logician. I have too much on my plate to make myself familiar with his work though it is conceivable that I should take the time to do so. Perhaps I will in due course. My impression is that though C.S. Lewis concluded that conscience was innate, I also believe it is implicit that he believed that it was evenly distributed. I do not believe that it is evenly distributed …

It is in the perceived best interest of the enemies of Christendom for Christians to continue to hold onto out dated ideas.

Note

My apologies. I misspelled unfamiliar and familiar. I accidentally elided the final i in both cases. This copy contains these two minor corrections.

This is not to say that the work of atheist logicians are to be dismissed proclaiming, “They are not of the body.” They are of the body. The believers and unbelievers shall belong to the same body until the second coming. There is a line from the Star Trek episode “Space Seed”:

chakoteya.net/startrek/24.htm
KIRK: Well, they were hardly supermen. They were aggressive, arrogant. They began to battle among themselves.
SPOCK: Because the scientists overlooked one fact. Superior ability breeds superior ambition.

The atheists are considerably more modest in their ambitions. What endeavor could be more ambitious than the endeavor to find God?

Hello everyone. I could use some general tips on evangelizing Atheists. I would welcome tips from anyone but especially from former Atheists who are now Catholic.
  1. always respect that individual (and/or let that person know you do )
  2. Jesus the Christ taught the inherent dignity of every human person
  3. Most of the time you can plant something but, hopefully someone in a heart by doing you’re best to be a good example ( words are not always necessary in other words )
  4. Simplicity can work but in instances when not do something else such as reading a few books the person likes or try to teach that person how to pray etc, etc…
  5. Pray for that unique individual’s growth with God and be open to God’s will.
Hope this help
Merry Christmas
God bless Y’all

Good to see you aragonjohn1. You always seem to have something interesting to say. I wish to comment on point one.
  1. always respect …
Though sound advise it is also misleading. If you address an atheist knowing nothing of his subject, ok his or her, or if your understanding is shallow, you show no respect. It is like going to France expecting everyone there to speak English. The French will not love you for this.

How do you show respect to a warrior? You prove to Him that you are worth killing. Knock on wood. I’m paraphrasing a line from a movie. The character was a Viking. He said, Finally, a man worth killing. You do not show a warrior, for example, respect by being a weakling and easy prey.

It wasn’t “The 13th Warrior” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_13th_Warrior

It was “King Arthur” stellanonline.com/kingarthur.html
I recognize the Viking from the photos.

The solution found by Christianity was the castle with strong walls that offered protection from the Viking raids. Christianity had to become militant in order to survive. The Christian monks were far too easy prey. In addition to the castle were the Knights.

You have to know how to show respect and you have got to figure out a way to achieve this goal and your goal at once. The castle, for example, achieved this. The people were spared the loss of innocence associated with combat and their lives spared at once. It was an elegant solution.

Spend more time in preparation than in actual confrontation. Many do the reverse. They spend more time arguing the point than honing their skills.

I once prayed for a young woman who could not pray to God. I did so on her behalf. If they cannot see God, then it is for us to see God for them.

Though the Day of Judgment shall be a day of celebration, it will also be a day of mourning. How many will be lost that could have been saved. Better that the day has not yet come.

And so I take issue with point 4.
  1. … teach that person how to pray …
Unless you are a Saint and have been called to do so by Grace, do not insist that the cripple should walk. The cripple is crippled after all.

Sorry, if I’m like tearing you apart. You gave food to the wolf. What do you expect of Him?

In Free Will I wrote,

I hope my passion will not prove to be too offensive. That said,

ndcourts.gov/court/rules/ndroc/rule6.10.htm: “To a Witness. Do you solemnly swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? So help you God.”

As a Christian and as a Catholic this is your testimony. Your testimony is to the whole truth.

The truth of the atheist is a partial truth. It is the truth of the world. The world as well as the Heavens were created by God, however. To shun the world entirely is to shun a creation of God, thus it cannot be complete.

When we turn away from God, our truth in turn can be a partial truth as well.

In Plan B forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=740247 I wrote,

Though you thought you were saving another, in the end the only thing you may have ever managed to do was save yourself.

Elsewhere I also wrote, “Save one, save a world.” Your goal is to come closer to God. The closer you come to God the greater your capacity to save others will become. After hearing you speak, it may take them many years to realize that what you said is true. What good you will have done, may not necessarily be revealed to you in this life as it was in the fictional story, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

That said, do not engage in fantasy. Do your best, then hope for the best.

As you rise to Heaven, others too shall rise with you.

When confronting Satan in battle one might be inclined to believe that they have engaged in forlorn battle, a battle where there is no hope of victory, a battle fought on death ground. Yet, victory is possible.

en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Friedrich_Nietzsche

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you.

My response was, “My gaze was fixed on God. This was a point I already made. At … Consequently, you speak nonsense.”

The advise is good.

If what I said wasn’t clear enough, “Your salvation will be the most potent weapon you will have. The process of salvation, however, is an on-going process.”

You say, “But, I was saved.” If you intend to save others, being saved once is not enough. You must be saved many times. Christ will die for you.

Teach yourself how to pray. Make your words a prayer. Pray that you do not fail.
Thank you for you’re critism of what I tried to write sir
So i should ask God teach me how to pray or something?
Preparation - thank you

God bless You
Merry Christmass

… your understanding of what I wrote reflects this.

This is very true, though I have a feeling that the RC do have such a program. Jesuits are pretty on top of things. It may not be common or public knowledge, but Jesuits have been around for a while, and are very scholarly with a focal mission on converting non-Catholics.
I know there was a fellow that had a very good program, I think at the college level, about how to have a discussion with atheists that was based on logic.
I would love to remember the fellow or the name of his program.
I’d order it now and go through it with my 14 year old.
