I didn't fast yesterday. Am I worthy of the Eucharist?

Would it be a mortal sin that I didn’t fast yesterday?
Did you forget? Are you within the age frame of 18-59? Do you have a medical condition where you need to eat more often or when taking medication? These are some things that could effect the seriousness of your failure to fast.

We need more details. Are you of age to fast? Did you forget? Do you have a medical condition that requires you eat more than the fast allows? Etc…

Not eating meat goes till death. I know, I’m 79 and still abstain. It’s in our Bulletin every year. God Bless, Memaw

Memaw,

The OP asked about ‘fasting’, not ‘abstaining’. That’s why folks have responded as they have.

Memaw:
If [not fasting was] done deliberately, it would [be a mortal sin].
Well… there’s more to it than that. If a person wasn’t held to the fast (e.g., outside the age range for mandatory fasting, or pregnant, or would be made ill by fasting), then he could ‘deliberately’ not fast… and it wouldn’t be a sin (let alone a mortal sin)…!

I know what he was asking about and if he didn’t know one he may not know the other! Someone already told him the age range for fasting. When I say deliberately, that means he knows what hes doing and did it anyway. If that’s the case then that’s wrong. He must have known he should have or he wouldn’t be asking. God Bless, Memaw
