So, if you want to be Catholic, then what is stopping you, if I may ask?

It is good you ask Catholics about this, who should know about Catholicism first-hand. You are asking the right people about this. I see that Catholics here have said how absurd this claim is.

I wonder if the ‘16’ in the OP’s name indicates his age. . .😃 But seriously, while this might not be the way I would choose to investigate Catholicism, it might be a start for this young man. And he did come back to clarify this as satirical, he didn’t just do a drive by --so I hope since he recognizes that the whole idea of the Pope doing such a thing about the Blessed Mother is pretty much unbelievable, that he might indeed go on to look deeper into the Catholic Faith. We have so much to offer, and part of that is joy, and laughter (the helpful, healing, convivial kind), and above all, love.

Good point. At least he admitted he was being satirical–I’ve seen plenty of people just drop by to be rude and condescending and slink off into the shadows when other posters call them on their nonsense.

Sarcasm and satire are always dangerous in a written form, because it is easily misunderstood.

IS POPE FRANCIS PREPARING TO DECLARE THE ‘VIRGIN’ MARY TO BE 4TH PART OF THE TRINITY?l]
I doubt that this is true. There are a lot of misunderstandings of who Mary is, and what is meant when we say that Mary is the Mother of God. According to the MIGM (Mary is God Movement):
“I am Dominic, the unworthy messenger of Mary, The Woman Clothed With The Sun. In the 1990’s, Our Blessed Mother told me that the Third Secret of Fatima consists of the following:
I. The Marian Dogma stating that She, Our Blessed Mother Mary, is God Herself. She is not another God nor a fourth person of God. Rather, She is the same God that The Most Holy Trinity Is. She, Mary, is the Most Holy Trinity, The Father, The Son, and The Most Holy Spirit, One God.”

This is also an erroneous belief.

It obviously wouldn’t be the trinity anymore because of tri=3 but if this is true Catholicism is wrong… I’m so confused!

Consider the source. I would not place ANY stock in a website titled, “Now the End Begins dot com”!

What is there to define regarding the Blessed Virgin Mary that has not already been said?
I don’t understand what you are saying.
There are 5 Marian Doctrines. But only 4 have been Dogmatically defined. All 5 doctrines exist and always have.

Dogma (Doctrine) 1 = (defined in the 300s or 400s) Mary is the Mother of God
Dogma (Doctrine) 2 = (defined in 649) Mary’s Three Fold Virginity (virgin before, during & forever after the birth of Christ)
Dogma (Doctrine) 3 = Immaculate Conception
Dogma (Doctrine) 4 = The Assumption

Doctrine 5 = Mary’s Relationship to us as Mother of us all, just as Christ gave John Mary as his Mother
1) Mother Suffering – the co-redemptrix
2) Mother Nurtures – Mediatrix of Graces
3) Mother Advocate – intercedes on our behalf

This is the only one of the 5 Doctrines which are not Dogmatically defined.

This CD/MP3 talks about it: lighthousecatholicmedia.org/store/title/meet-your-mother-an-introduction-to-mary?promoCode=104130

So does the book Meet Your Mother by Dr (and Deacon) Mark Miravalle lighthousecatholicmedia.org/store/title/meet-your-mother-book?promoCode=104130

Also Tim’s Staples’ book Behold Your Mother also discusses the 5 Doctrines (check out the table of contents here: shop.catholic.com/misc/2014/behold-your-mother-sample.pdf).

You can also buy Tim’s book here: shop.catholic.com/behold-your-mother-a-biblical-and-historical-defense-of-the-marian-doctrines.html

If you can’t buy the books right now, I highly recommend the CD or MP3. It’s less than 1 hour long, easy listening.

God Bless.

Notice the inconsistency in the blog:

Pope Francis said:

“And this is our hope. We are not orphans, we have Mothers: Mother Mary. But the Church is Mother and the Mother Church is anointed when it takes the same path of Jesus and Mary: the path of obedience, the path of suffering, and when she has that attitude of continually learning the path of the Lord. These two women – Mary and the Church – carry on the hope that is Christ, they give us Christ, they bring forth Christ in us. Without Mary, there would be no Jesus Christ; without the Church, we cannot go forward“.

Catch that? The Pope said that Christ is the hope, and Mary and the Church “give” us Christ and bring Christ forth in us. IOW, they encourage us to be devoted followers of Christ our Hope.

The blogger said:

Jesus has been demoted to third place behind ‘mother’ Mary and the ‘Holy Mother Church’, the Roman Catholic Church. The bible says, however that the “blessed hope” of the Christian is “the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”

See? The blogger agrees that the “Hope” of Christians if Jesus.

What the Pope has said is orthodox; the blogger just can’t see it because of anti-Catholic prejudice.

My advice? Stay away from bad websites. :yup:

👍

Seek out reliable sites.

Sorry, but we do not consider the Mother of God a suitable topic for a “good laugh”.
Im really sorry! It was actually a true question but everyone was talking about how ignorant I was so I tried to play it off… Im sorry:(

Not to worry, Jacob!

You know, some people are well educated and they have a B.S. degree. Others are less well educated, but they too have a B.S. degree. It’s often quite high I might add. 😃
Yes and once they’re done with the BS they can start with a MS (more S) and then they could go on to the Ph.D (piled higher, deeper).

To the OP, the above remark concerning the degrees was not directed at you but the large amount of people out there who are just too eager to spread false witness about the Catholic Church. They really have no excuse because it is just too easy to find out what the Catholic church does teach. If the Catholic church is as evil as one says it is than the truth is sufficient. Why try to spread false witness?

🤷

If Mary was declared part of the Holy Trinity, it would cease to be a “TRINITY”. Can’t have FOUR in a TRInity.

Wherever there is such untruth and dissention, one can be assured that the Evil One is fast a work.

If anyone wants to question the Holy Father, one only has to look at how often he is maligned and attacked; draw your own conclusions. It is a wise person who can read the signs.

I am now on my 7th pope, and I have never seen so many attacks, so much untruth, selective quotes to “show” untruth, and outright lies made against the pope.

And never have I seen so many gullible people who should know better. While we need to pray for our Pope, we also need to pray for the faithful, that they may not be separated from him.

It wasn’t that long ago that I was also a Baptist looking from the outside in at the wonders of the Catholic Church. Best wishes on your continued journey. It really is as good as it looks, this Catholicism thing.

The Baptists that I was around when growing up weren’t the type to talk about others. There wasn’t a lot of time spent criticizing the Catholic Church or any other church for that matter. I did find that there were some misconceptions (though I didn’t really know it then) floating around about the Catholic Church.

I dated some Catholic girls and had Catholic friends. From time to time, I would visit the Catholic Church and attend a Mass. Oddly enough, during those times that I visited, no one worshipped Mary, no one worshipped idols and no one seemed to put Mary on a level with Jesus Christ, the Father or the Holy Spirit. Nothing the priest said during the Mass offended me, nothing during the Mass offended me, quite the contrary, I found the Mass intriguing. What offended me was what others, outside the faith, had said that was untrued regarding the Church.

It has just been 7 months since I have been confirmed into the Catholic Church. The two years proceeding that, I spent a lot of time looking into the Church. It is far from unusual for there to be falsehoods spread about the Church. Some of them are out of ignorance, hopefully, the majority of them are out of ignorance. Some are intentionally claiming the Church is something that they know she is not. That is quite an unholy venture.

If some in this forum seemed a bit harsh, it may be because these misconceptions and lies, come up often. Imagine if someone was spreading rumors about your mother, claiming her to be a far less chaste woman than she should be. You might lash out in her defense. Some of that is what you are seeing here. That doesn’t make it right but it does explain it a bit. God knows I’ve made similar mistakes in my lifetime.

To everyone else, why not look at the religion claimed by the original poster. The questions this poster has asked were questions that I had two years ago. It took an adult education director at my church to work through those questions.

Yep. In another thread the OP says he is 16. When I was 16 I had LOTS to learn!

No worries. Most of the criticism was against the website you linked to, not you. The site is pretty bad. I just read one of the other pages there. In that one, they took a Biblical title for Jesus (“Morning Star”, Revelation 22:16) from a Catholic prayer, and twisted it to imply that we worship the devil. The site is very dishonest.
