It’s not the thread that surprised me, it was calling your son a t*** in the above post. Where I come from that is a highly vulgar term to describe someone.
Really? Interesting BC in North America its harmless. My kids would even be allowed to say that at school LOL.

Note to self when I visit Oz …Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy…oi oi oi!!! Totally love your country BTW…want to go there one day.

Humor is good medicine.

I love my son with all my heart and soul, but it doesn’t mean I have to always like the job of “mother”. Most of what I am writing is satirical. Please don’t read it as literal interpretation.

Are you a mom? If I read this thread before becoming a mother, I would have been shocked too.
I’m a mom. I understand that this is considered fairly mild in American English but–don’t. Just don’t. Don’t call your child something that they can’t aim at their friends at school. You cannot expect your child to keep their humor respectful if you don’t even do it yourself. They don’t have that kind of self-control or self-awareness. Think of something else, something you can afford to have imitated at any time and in front of any one.

I cannot tell you how many parents I know who have violated this rule only to have their child parrot back their parents’ habitual speech at the worst possible time. That is why I call the time between when a child learns to talk and when they become adolescents the period of “living under surveillance.” The “camera” is ALWAYS on, and your little darling is your own little personal “viral” YouTube, ready to play for everyone who knows you personally. 😃

Oh, and they’ll have less to “tell their therapist” some day, when they are going through a wallowing-in-self-pity phase. (Yes, people do abuse therapy in order to feel sorry for themselves. That doesn’t make therapy bad, but the danger is there.)

Yes, having to watch yourself as if you are going to be broadcast on a reality TV show is one of the things that make parenthood harder. Hang in there. None of us do it perfectly!

Really? I know teachers who think it sometimes, but I don’t know any who can “allow” it.

Just behind his back haha!

Oh, my… It is a good thing the Lord cautioned us that we risk Gehenna for actually calling our brother “You fool!” and not for even thinking it! (Not that it is a good thing, but at least it is venial!)
