You said “But the Bible doesn’t say that all the information we need for our salvation is contained in scripture.”Please show me where I said that
To which I replied
“It doesn’t have to say it is there. It is there.”
To which you replied
“That assumption is extra-biblical.”
So, you say that my “assumption” that salvation is contained in the bible is extra biblical. I can only take that to mean that you do not think that all the information we need for our salvation is in the bible. So where is it?
Ok, I’m just not sure what your point is in making it.You said, or at least implied, that all we need to know is the saving blood of Jesus Christ. My comment only took your statement to its logical conclusion.
Are you saying what I think you are saying here? That without the CC Christ’s sacrifice is invalide?Christ gave all authority to His Church. The power to bind and loose and whatever it binds on earth will be bound in heaven and all that it looses on earth will be loosed in heaven. Christ gave the Church the keys to the kingdom of heaven. That is where you find it. No, it is not all in the Bible.
This sure seems like you are saying that we can’t be saved unless we are Catholics.Yes, the truth of salvation of Jesus Christ is found in Scripture, but the realization of salvation is found in His Church, of which He is the Head. So no, I do not in any way agree with SS. We must have an authoritative interpreter of Scripture and the Church to administer the saving grace of Christ. A relationship with Christ means a relationship with His Church.
Sure, in order to spread the good news of Jesus Christ and Him crucified for our sins.May I ask you why you believe that Christ started the Church?
Matt.28:19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
I don’t understand what relavance this has.The deposit of faith containing the fullness of truth, handed down orally by the Apostles.
The whole bible is about God’s plan of salvation, which comes to fruition in Jesus Christ. The New Testament had not been written when this was said so he could not have been referring to it. Christ is the Word made flesh.
Well, then it’s part of SS.Yes, I am aware of that.
Doesn’t mean it’s not there.Well, there may be gold in the hills, but unless you find it doesn’t get you too far.
