A friend of mine left the Catholic Church in her senior year of high school and became a Prodesent. (She was baptized by Church of Christ)
She then got married, was married for 6 years. Her husband then went tempory duty, as he was in the Army to West Virgiana, leaving her back at Ft. Campbell with their children in the Army Base Housing. He was to return in 6 months. He then returned and 4 months after his return she found out that he had married another woman in West Va while he was gone. The husband and other woman confirmed this…(along with medical records as this woman was seen at the hospital) so it was true. (By the way the other woman never went to Ft. Campbell, he left her in West Va.) This man later on divorced my friend and never went back to his other wife.
My friend then later on married another man (who had never been married) still outside of the Catholic Church. They had children together, years later it came out that he had been having a long time affair with another woman. (who my friend and I met and her husband confirmed this, yet he said it ment nothing.) My friend tried to forgive him as he said he’d never do it again…only to find out that he never stopped the affair. (she found out 2 more years later that he was still having the affair). My friend left him taking the children with her. This man then filed for divorce from my friend, thinking he’d get custody of the children, which he didn’t and the divorce was granted.
Years later, she then married another man, by the way did I mention all these men are not Catholic? If not I guess I need to add that. After only 1 1/2 years of marriage, my friend who was working a split second/third shift came home to find another woman in bed with her husband, not only was this bad, but it just so happened to be her first cousins wife! She then filed for divorce and divorced him. She had no children with the 3rd husband.
Again years later she married another man, (whom she had known since 8th grade) who had never been married, nor had any children of his own. They have now been married for 15 years and he has adopted her children from her other two marriages. Their marriage is still going strong.
Now my friend is starting to attended the Catholic Church. She was a Craddle Catholic and recieved first communion, confession and convermation.
Here are the questions she’s asking me.

Here are the questions she’s asking me.
- Since the Catholic Church doesn’t reconigze marraiges outside of the Catholic Church, (except if the two people who were married were prodesent) where does that put her last marriage? Since in all these marriages she wasn’t a Practing Catholic? But had turned to being a Prodesent?
- The other problem is, (she’s been doing reading of books I’ve been sharing with her,) she can’t have any contact with any of her ex-husbands, (things happened that I can’t post, but it’s safe to say the courts won’t allow it. No she didn’t break the law, the courst won’t allow contact to protect her.) what does she do now?
- Her husband who is not Catholic and is not a Chruch attender, is supportive of her going to Church.
