My bouncing baby boy was born on 9/12/2008 at 3:30 am. Mother and child are doing fine. His big sisters are extremely excited. He weighed 8lb 14oz and was 19in long.

We thought of calling him Ike, but momma didn’t like that idea. So that just might be my special name for him.😃

Congrats!!! He beat the storm!

Yes we did, but my parents are never going to watch our kids if we ever want to go on a vacation during Hurricane season. We went to Rome in Sept. 2005, and they watched our then two kids. They got to enjoy all the fear and hype of Rita. They are watching our three girls today while my dw and I are stuck at the hospital because we obviously won’t be discharged before the lockdown at the hospital starts.

🍰 ❤️ :angel1:

Ohh what a cutie! I am celebrating the baby’s birthday right now with Cake!😃 Like I need an excuse…

That sweet angel is adoreable

I just wanted to post an update. The hospital is running on emergency power. The AC isn’t working. We do have internet access, but no TV.

Mom and baby are doing fine. Baby Ike has decided that he really likes mom.

My older kids had a blast at my grandparents, and then slept through the worst part of the storm. I don’t have any idea what is going on at my house, I will be calling the neighbors here shortly.

I hope it blows over soon. I was just watching coverage of galveston.😦

It is pretty much blown out here on the westside of houston. My neighborhood has power and very little damage. So has soon as they will let us out of the hospital, we have a safe place to go. Although, we will have a full house for a while probably. My MIL, SIL (2 adults 2kids), Uncle-in-law (4 adults) will probably come and stay with us until they have power restored.

Back to my laptop after two days and I found some of the best news. Congratulations! Now I have something else to give thanks for.

I also got a call from St. Mary seminary in Houston and all the guys are doing fine but no power and we will get some of them here in Austin for the next week.

Congrats… I pray that that baby boy will serve as a reminder from God that blessings come even during the toughest storms in life for you and your family…

Watch out for those seminaries!!! 🙂 J/K… The seminary is down the street and I have quite a few friends there. Make sure you have lots of candy for them and Dr. Pepper!

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts. I wanted to give a final update on things.

We are safe at home and we have power. My parents have returned our kids. School has been canceled until Wednesday. The older girls were extremely excited to have their baby brother home and they first thing they asked for when they got here was where was he. It has been a trying time, but we have made it. Our baby boy will have to explain to everyone when he gets older why people call him Ike even though that really isn’t his name.

My brother is staying with my parents until he has power. We expect that to be tomorrow.

My MIL is staying with us until she has power. That is kinda of nice since she can help with the baby. We don’t know when she will get power.

My wife’s Aunt and 2 cousins are staying with us tonight. They will be going back to their house in the morning to continue cleaning up. They got a hot meal, shower, and a night in the AC. They live North of Houston and were hit hard. They had a tree hit and damage part of their house. They still need prayers because I fear that it will be a long time until they will have power. They have an open invitation to stay with us as long as needed. One of the cousin goes to Texas A&M in Galveston. There is no idea when he will go back to school or where. They might move his classes to College Station, but I don’t know what they will do about dorms or anything like that. They think that his dorm in Galveston lost its roof and he was on the top floor.

My SIL and her family went to visit friends in the Austin area since they still don’t have power. They would have come and stayed with us, but one of their children is coming down with a cold and they gratefully didn’t want to chance anything with our newborn baby.

Overall, it could have been a much worse experience. I would like to thank CA for being there so that I had someplace to express my thoughts.
