Yes I am speaking out of frustration, I’m tired of him always shoving this stuff down my throat I mean for evey catholic answer from catholic answers I give him, he has a verse to combat it and I’m almost completely weak in explaining and comparing verse. I’m just so tired of being so powerless and unable to stop him from beating me to death. I would just once like to get a cross a good point that finally opens his eyes a little, something I can beat him over…
Sometimes it is best to let God do the work when it is getting too much for you to do. God appreciates your effort, but in the end, He is the one who will do the converting. Pray- that’s how you can reach him- you may not know how much until the Last Day, but prayer works.

I would say that if it’s causing problems between you and your brother, to simply drop the matter. It’s not going to do anyone any good to convince one or the other if both are adamant in their positions. If it’s causing you much distress, then drop the whole issue and pray for your brother. At this point, let God do the work on your brother. It takes time for a seed planted to grow, and I think you’ve done much planting already. The rest God will work in His time.

You need to go no further than where you are right now. Just look around the Catholic Answers site and you will find everything you could hope for.

Maybe you need to just refuse to talk religion with him. Don’t take his brochures. Don’t take his bait. If he persists, keep asking him to stop. At some point, just leave (and tell him you’re leaving because of his lack of charity).

If he were truly looking for answers it would be a different situation, but from what you describe he is not looking for answers but looking solely to undermine your faith. You need to simply forbid him from doing this.

I am so overwhelmed by my brother right now I don’t know what to do. It’s not effecting my faith anymore because at this point at I have such an intense hate for protestantism. But any way my brother handed me two brochures both by an athor that goes by the name of James G. McCarthy, the contents of which are extensively aided in scripture and extremely lengthy to go in and research and rebutt them all.One is “Roman Catholicism, What you need to know; a quick referennce guide” and “What Every Catholic Should Ask”. Are there any comprehensive rebuttals to these specificly online or otherwise or is anyone familar enough with them that I can ask of your help???
I have my own business and have many, mnay evangelical clients, many of whom try to convert me. I always gently refuse them but I never get upset with them-they are acting out of Love-they truly beleive i am going to hell and they are trying, in their mind, to save me from eternal hellfire and damnation.

Rather than carry on an ongoing argument wait for one of the many “teaching” moments the Lord provides us. The death of John Paul the Great was such a moment-it provied us with a time to explan what Catholics really beleive about he Pope and paal infallibility…Another moment arrives for me every year when newstaff members ask me why we close for Good Friday-a great opportunity to discuss the triddum.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. To me, there is no need to defend your faith. You know that you belong to the true church. Is he just looking for a fight or a debate? I would say it would be much more peaceful for you to put a stop to these conversations with him immediately.

Pray to St. John the Baptist for him every day to see the truth.

I would suggest you turn the hate into caution as I’ve recently discovered that all of the Protestant religions teach as a matter of their fundamental doctrine, that the Pope or Papacy is the anti-Christ. This is really scary stuff people. The goal of protestant ministers is to extract the conscience of its flock and replace it with ego. That is a very dangerous situation. Go to the luther quest forum and you will discover a handful of mind controlled brain dead idiots. It is very scary.

There is a pamphlet titled “The Gospel according to James McCarthy” that refutes him point by point. You may want to get it and give it to your brother after you’ve read it.

After I decided to “drop the issue” with one particular cousin, a most anti-Catholic one indeed, who was e-mailing me nasty e-mails about 5 a day, you know what? The HS must have worked on him, because he later wrote saying he e-mailed a priest and said this and that, and he drove by a Catholic parish, talked with the priest about this and that, etc…Hey why would a die-hard Prot be doing this if they weren’t open to God’s leading? Do what you can, share phamplets, etc., but also let it go and pray. Man–you will be surprised what God has in store for those that love him.

GO to the Catholic Answers website - go get the Pillar of Fire pamphlet, download them, print them out…hand them to him. Then hug him and tell him how much you love him and thank him for loving you.
