So I was raised as a Roman Catholic my whole life. However, we were never taught about our own faith, besides what we learnt in school and during our Confirmation and First Communion classes. I don’t understand my faith and I don’t think my parents do either, they don’t go to church, believe in celibacy until marriage, etc. I have tried to teach myself but it’s very confusing as I am on my own in going through this process. I have begun to consider simply becoming non-denominational Christian as the only belief that there is no contrasting beliefs about (within Christianity) is that Jesus is the Son of God, who loves me and will forgive my sins. There are so many opposing arguments with the rest of Catholic beliefs: communion is not a ritual but a sacred act, Mary remained a virgin her whole life, priests can forgive sins, etc. that I feel it will result in me making mistakes, believing in false doctrine and living with a faith that I don’t understand causing me to lose my faith altogether. Any advice or suggestions would really be appreciated, Thanks.
