i think i had a lustful dream, i don’t want these & thoughts / dreams but, i ejaculated in my sleep, is it because (medically) i haven’t masturbated in almost 2 months? i don’t wanna masturbate because it’s a bad thing & i don’t wanna go back to my old self i never stop praying i’m putting up a good fight you can say But, did i sin? i hope not HOW do some of you have peaceful dreams ? i’m tired of having lustful dreams i don’t find pleasure in these dreams it makes me more depressed Because i just had confession 😦

is*, i just woke up lol sorry for the typographical error.

Having a nocturnal emission isn’t a sin. Don’t beat up on yourself. God made your body a certain way and it does that sometimes. Don’t beat yourself up about your sexual desire. God gave you sexual desire, just take care to use it right in the proper way that gives glory to God.

Remember, it’s not a mortal sin unless you have full knowledge and full consent of the will. I don’t know if you could commit mortal sin while dreaming.

i don’t want these thoughts and dreams i was a porn/ masturbation addict & i don’t care if masturbation is pleasurable it’s bad & im wasting something i could use to have a child with my future spouse 😦 i hate being a teenager

Being a teenager is supposed to be hard! 🙂 I am really REALLY proud and impressed that you’ve managed to conquer something in your teen years that many people struggle with as full blown adults!

I’m not a doctor, but especially as a teenager with all the raging hormones, I would think that uncontrollable nocturnal emission would be sinless.

Mortal sin requires an INTENT to sin, and since you did not consciously intend to do what you did, I would think it to be sinless.

That being said, I myself am a weekly confessor, so I can understand you wanting to be thorough about it before taking the Eucharist. If it worries you, go to confession again before the next Mass you attend.

Sending you much encouragement!

I need help…Hi.

I want to be helpful here. First, it is normal for healthy celibate males to have “wet dreams.” It is because you aren’t abusing yourself and God be praised.

Second, think about you are asking. Do you really think it is possible that the God who is revealed in the Catholic Church would hold you accountable and punish you for things your body does without your permission in your sleep? It would be difficult for me to have love toward a Being that would punish me for non-volitional things that happen while I sleep.

I know you have come out of depth of sin for which you are certainly thankful. Satan doesn’t want you to love the good God who has washed away your real sins and given you the grace to conquer. The devil wants to steal the joy you should have about being in a state of grace. It is neither good faith nor good reason that would make a Catholic fear that he has committed sins in his sleep. God loves you and He delivered you while many millions of people are ensnared by this sin. Never stop thanking Him, adoring Him, and remembering His loving deliverance. We have to control what we think about…and if we do this…if the faithful believing Catholic will do this…we will have joy and peace.

In Jesus and Mary,

Rory

If you keep praying they might eventually go away. If the last time you masterbated and watced porn was two months ago, then thats not too long ago. Breaking an addiction is very hard to do. Going cold turkey is the hardest, because a part of your brain depended on that addiction. So now you’ve confused it thinking, that the addiction is no longer available and will do whatever it can to get that pleasure, i,e., dreaming or day dreaming about it. Give it more time and keep praying, your dependency will start to die out.

i had a lustful dream i think i think i dreamed about porn if i did did i sin? i have these thoughts everyday from all the porn i use to watch has came back to haunt me … im tired of thinking about those lustful thoughts i dont find pleasure in these at all im tired of this, i dont wanna masturbate or watch porn anymore, those videos of girls fingering themselves has came back to haunt me Gosh, GO AWAY lustful thoughts!

i quit coldturkey & never looked back … i never wanna go back to watching that filthy garbage IT NEVER GETS OUT OF MY MIND & OTHER SINFUL THOUGHTS DONT EITHER !! GRRRRRRR 😦

Having a wet dream, or a nocturnal emission is not a sin in and of itself. It is a totally natural body function, and happens to many young men.

I have to say though, looking at some of your threads and posts, you seem to be a bit obessed with this issue.

If you are in fact a teenager, i would suggest talking with your parent(s), and see about some sort of counselling.

In the mean time, find other ways of occupying your time. Read a book, hang out with friends, get a hobby. Dwelling on it only keeps it fresh in your mind. Find a diversion.

At the very least, talk to your priest.

It has already been asnwered for you. NO it;s not a sin if it happen in your sleep. You need to be careful with the details you put on here. This thread is almost starting to sound like a joke.

is it A SIN? yes or no 😦
In my opinion, it is closer to a sin to keep asking the question and speaking graphically about your past lustful habits than it is to do something non-volitionally in your sleep. Do you think others are edified by the images your description might prompt? Hardly. Do you have to be told that unwilled acts cannot be actual sins? What kind of a monster do you believe in that you think will punish you for what you dream in your sleep? I don’t mean to be rough but c’mon kiddo. Nobody has ever taught you that dreams can be sinful have they? You have to use your will. Can you get absolution from sins while you are asleep by dreaming of the confessional? Of course not. Neither can you commit sins in your sleep that require the confessional.

Do you think you are alone in having sinful impulses? Many saints have talked about this phenomenon. It is a device of the Evil One to discourage and prevent the faithful in their love of God and growth in grace. You have to recognize that unwilled acts and thoughts cannot be sinful. You have to cooperate with them before they become sinful and have deliberation before they can be mortally sinful. God is good. God is just. God is love. Believe it.

I’m sorry, Thank You guys a lot i’m just trying to be the good christian guy i use to be, i go a little overboard sometimes lol Thanks a lot, 🙂

God Bless You ALL 😃

is it A SIN? yes or no 😦
No. Sin must involve three things:
  1. A serious matter
  2. Knowledge that the matter is sinful
  3. Full consent of the conscious will.
You cannot consciously decide to do something while you are unconscious! Talk to your priest about this. He has heard this many times, trust me. You need to be at peace when you are fighting temptation.

dude, from how you’re talking, you may have OCD, or scrupulosity, which is basically the religious version of it.

Saint Augustine held that male nocturnal emissions, unlike masturbation, did not pollute the conscience of a man, because they were not voluntary carnal acts, and were therefore not to be considered a sin.[12] Augustine did, however, pray that he may be released from the “glue of lust” and thus recommended the beseechment of God’s assistance in clearing one’s soul of all such carnal affections.[13]

Saint Augustine interprets the references to the uncleanliness of discharge of seed (and menstruation) in Leviticus as symbolising disorder and unruliness as opposed to the seed forming a human being through conception which symbolises the form and structure of a just life.
