After the mess he made with “Lady in the Water” and “The Village” (or whatever it was called), I wrote him off. I love suspense, but not a predictable mess, which is what the above two movies were.

The “twist” is VERY disturbing, considering children are involved. And the moment where the grandpa is alone in the kitchen with the grandson and starts to do something, you could hear a pin drop in theater because they thought he was going to do something else. That’s all I will say on the matter for risk of spoiling anything.

It’s filmed “found footage”-style like Paranormal Activity, though there’s no supernatural element to it.

I saw it only because we arrived too late for the one we wanted to see. If you’re planning to do dinner and a movie, I would strongly recommend doing dinner first.

If I ever see it, I hope the twist isn’t one I can see coming a mile away like with “Shutter Island” (I realize that was a different director altogether). I could also see the twist coming in “The Sixth Sense,” though I thought the movie rather stylishly made. The psychiatrist never changed his clothes and the boy never talked with anyone else. Bingo!

I think that in and of itself is a bit of spoiler. You see the name M. Night Shaymalan and water (one of his common references) and the grandparents’ talk of aliens and you naturally assume that’s where it’s leading.

No, but he said that the twist is not supernatural which the viewer was led to believe for a large part of the movie until the twist is revealed.

If he’s back in form, though, that would be good. It seemed like his star was on the rise and then things just sort of fizzled.

The preview I saw made it look like an extremely creepy movie. It didn’t really look like it would be good for children, but then I haven’t seen it.
The preview made it seem like a standard, everyday, run of the mill “your Grandmother is a cannibal”-type film.

Every movie has its fans and people who don’t care for it so much. Nothing wrong with that. I daresay a lot of posters probably would not like my DVD collection! LOL
I knew I wasn’t going to see this movie, so I read about it. Know the twist, know how it ends. It’s not a movie for me, but plenty of others may like it. We all like different things. This director is just not for me.
