Exercise, if you’re able to. Turning the radio up or playing music and singing loudly to all the songs - that can help your emotions to flow outward. And keep repeating the prayer to St. Michael - you are a warrior - and you have the angels to back you. Fight against this–don’t give up. It may be your medication. This is not you. This is not who you are. You are the victor in Christ Jesus.

Dear Friend in Christ,

I know how you must be suffering…I have suffered with depression on and off through my lifetime. I too have felt hopeless. But do not despair, God loves you and knows your suffering, talk to him Jesus have mercy on me. Like the others have said your suffering is not without merit as you offer it to Jesus on the Cross, your suffering can have meaning and can help others who suffer in depression also. And don’t be afraid to ask Jesus to heal you, He is better than any drug manufactured by the pharmaceutical companies!

To share with you some of my experiences with Xanax: I was prescribed that drug for anxiety. I became much more anxious from the drug. It is highly addictive. What happens is that you take a pill and then you feel relief from anxiety. The pill wears off in 4-6 hours, and your anxiety returns but it is now at least 10 times stronger than before, with feelings of intense panic, so that you need to take another one. At the same time, its long term effect is one of a depressant. It is like I said highly addictive, therefore one must titrate off of it over a course of 2 weeks, or possibly longer, depending on how long you have taken it. What I did was start taking slightly less each time, say take 3/4 of a tablet, for a week, then 1/2 for a week then 1/4 for a week. Then start trying to go without it for a number of doses then finally stop taking it. Once off of it, depression will return to a baseline as should anxiety, then get into some cognitive behavioral therapy with a counselor you trust. This is not meant to be medical advice, but this has worked for me. Another thing that helped me immensely was group therapy with others who are experiencing depression. Sometimes misery does love company~it is nice to know that others are where you are, and oddly the whole group usually begins to heal. And another thing that worked for me is listening to “the blues” just seems to cheer me up to know that sadness and hardship are a condition that is universal to all times and cultures:)

P.S. Alcohol is a huge depressant. Cutting down will help too, but again do things gradually as this also has withdrawal effects that can be difficult to cope with. Have you tried AA?

I will pray for you.

I hope you will find comfort in Jesus Christ, our God, who redeemed us.

Holy Mother, please intercede for us.
Hold the sorrowful, strengthen the fearful,
mother the abused, neglected or forgotten,
give aid to all needing help or healing,
assist those who are sick, in pain or suffering,
be with those needing peace, console the lonely,
comfort the lost or hopeless, guard the unborn,
pray for those who are dying or who have died,
soften those with hardened hearts,
enlighten those who do not yet see truth,
help us be brave enough to let our hurt and anger go,
show us the way to do the right thing,
protect those who are in danger,
and guide us from every evil.
May all who keep your sacred commemoration
experience the might of your assistance.
Amen :gopray: **

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; be our defense against the
wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray. And do
thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God thrust into hell Satan and
all evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen

Eternal God , in whom mercy is endless,
and the treasury of compassion inexhastible ,
look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us ,
that in difficult moments we might not despair
nor become despondent , but with great confidence ,
submit ourselves to Your Holy Will ,
which is love and mercy itself . Amen

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me Amen

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou amongst women, and Blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen

Good Saint Dymphna, great wonder-worker in every affliction of mind and body, I humbly implore your powerful intercession with Jesus through Mary, the Health of the Sick, in my present need. Please obtain relief for Nabooru. Saint Dymphna, martyr of purity, patroness of those who suffer with nervous and mental afflictions, beloved child of Jesus and Mary, pray to Them for me and obtain my request.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen

Jesus still loves you.

There is nothing you can can do to make him stop loving you.

He offers us his mercy and love unconditionally.

Your life will get better. Put your trust in Jesus. He loves you. It doesn’t matter what you have done. He still loves you and wants to give you a warm hug and draw you close to him and never let you go. He wants to bring you into a relationship with him that will transform your life and give you a heart of love.

If you can go I recommend going on a cursillo weekend where you can experience the love of God for yourself. You have nothing to lose by going and everything to gain. And the Christian community you will gain will make all the difference in your life.

Don’t let fear of suffering stop you. Suffering can have a purifying effect. We can also offer it to God for others. We can choose to be bitter about our sufferings and waste them or we can offer them up for the sake of others and put them to use.

Praying for you

I will keep you in my daily prayers. Please don`t give up on yourself. God loves you and will be with you always.

Dear Nabooru, I prayed for you last night and will do so again tonight. Pray the Rosary – think of the Divine Love of Jesus in the Sorrowful Mysteries and have special recourse to the Blessed Virgin Mary in prayer.

If we were have been born devoid of any of the five senses, the world would still be around us, even though we could not know it in any sensible way. On a spiritual parallel, God is with us even when we experience no sensible consolation. He has said so Himself.

I will pray for you…

Love and God bless,
‘nahbios’.

Dear Nabooru,

I said a prayer for you that you get well, and find a SOLUTION to your illness. You can and will get better. I have been where you are. This too shall pass. Keep looking for answers - get your thyroid checked, experiment with different diets (yes food, autoimmune disorders, inflammation - all can cause depression and/or anxiety issues), food allergies or sensitivities can wreak havoc on your body (yes - your brain and body ARE connected). Have your Vitamin D levels looked at - very low levels can trigger depression. Take Vitamin C - this helps with inflammation and reduces depression as well.

And please continue to pray. You many not be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel right now - but believe me - it’s there and someday you will see it.

Amen
