I have been a widow for the past 33years and have lived this time independently.
About 13 years ago I moved to live close to my daughter, next door actually.
She is a widow and earlier this year lost her youngest son in an automobile accident.
Since that time our relationship has deteriorated greatly.
About two months ago, she told me she wanted to return to California and has asked
Me to sell out here and once more move, I am 87years old now and do not want to leave
And start over again at this stage. She is very unhappy with me and believes I am most selfish.
I believe her hope is for me to move into an assisted living type community out there.
My health is good, I still garden as much as I am able, take care of myself, get to Church
And do my own shopping and driving. I try very hard not to inconvenience.
She has a very busy parish life,
My family and friends have all gone on before me and other than passing the time of day
With neighbors and folk at Church, since moving here, I have not reached out and made
Close friendships, completely my own fault. I do not have anyone close here other than
My daughter and I am feeling a total burden to her for my future.
Please pray for my continued strength in the Lord and to do what needs to be done in Him.
Thank you and Peace to you, Carlan.

Carlan, if you do not wish to relocate, don’t. If your daughter wants to move that is her choice, give her your blessing.

My best friend is 96 years old and is quite independent.

I will pray for you as you start this new phase in your life.

Trust in The Lord .

But God does not punish, He only rewards, and to some of His best friends, a taste from the Cup of Sorrows or a share in the Cross…

I pray for Christ’s peace to reign in your family and for an increase of strength and trust in Christ in times of trial.

Thank you so much for taking the time to come here and share your story. I am so very sorry to hear of your loss of your grandchild. What a great loss for your family, and now your subsequent suffering in the damage to your relationship with your daughter. I wish I had something concrete to offer you in the way of advice. Jesus Christ loves you very much, he is helping you carry this most heavy cross, even though I know sometimes it must not feel like he is.

I am so very sorry for all the pain in your life. Please be assured of my prayers. I wish you peace and joy. God bless you. Please take care as best as you can.
Carlan
This is so well said I can’t add anything to it except you have my prayers as well.
Mary.

Dearest Carlan,

I know you are feeling torn at this time, and that your relationship with your daughter is not the best. Please realize that she cannot be held responsible for the things she says in her grief. She may want to move to get away from the painful memories. I don’t remember much of 2011, and I am sure I must have been absolutely rude to many people. She is going through the worst thing a parent can experience. Her former life is over and she has no idea what to do with the bits that are left. Please pray and be kind, as I am sure you are already doing.

However, if you don’t want to move and/or enter a senior community, you shouldn’t. If you are active and in reasonably good health, you should do as you wish.

God is not punishing you. Your family has suffered irreparable damage, but He did not intend it for you.
