I’m not sure. I’m keeping sense about me and saying that it’s just a yearning for something full in my spiritual dryness OR the mental and emotional “shock” of going off to college and being on my own…

There’s just something there that I feel I should investigate. I’m kinda scared.

Well, the good thing is that most every order has a novitiate, and better yet, many offer multitudes of retreats to try out this life. Discernment is a very confusing process filled with many strange emotions. I suggest if whatever you are called to, try to live as they do for awhile and maybe the “shock” of the life will seem alot less.

Psychologists say it takes 14 weeks to adjust to something new, so give yourself at least the first semester to get adjusted to your new way of life.

Sometimes the call comes to religious life when our security blanket of routine has been yanked out from under us.

But don’t worry about it right now. Like I said, just concentrate on settling into college. If you really have a calling to the religious life, ignoring it will only make it stronger.

HTH.

Blessings,
Cloisters

One piece of advice. Really the most important piece of advice.

Get a spiritual director.
