You know what is great. You say you want to work. That means you are a motivated person who in not lazy. Any good husband would value these qualities.!

If you say your face is not your best asset, then focus on the inside. This advice is good for everyone even the ultra attractive. Of all your friends and family how much do* you* focus on their looks? I bet you hardly notice, because what counts is your relationship not how they look.

I have seen people who consider themselves unattractive (their assessment not mine), if marriage is their goal, they eventually find a good mate, so don’t worry, put yourself out there with nice people and let God lead you to your spouse.

In the mean time keep up the good habits that you are forming in your life.

God Bless.

Done correctly, most people find a relationship with God, Our Lord, and Our Lady to be uplifting, bringing about a happiness that they would have never had under the heavy yoke of sin we once carried around.

St Paul once said in so many words that hanging around sinners and those who separate themselves from God would lead to the same for us. Many lives have been transformed for those seeking the intersession of our Lady, which is what I hope for you. She provides all the love, protection, and happiness that anyone who dedicates themselves to her could need.

Our Lady has said that even most hardened sinners can find salvation if they would only pray the rosary and dedicate themselves to Jesus through his mother Mary, our advocate.

Blessings.
Would second this. Most people are not happy because they are under the bondage of sin. It rules them, whether consciously or subconsciously. I’d also wager most people don’t want to admit that either, but it is true. They keep bad company, and pretend it won’t affect them. God won’t give you what you want. He’ll give you what you need. Don’t even worry too much about whether you’re doing it right or not, just give Our Lady a chance. Pray Her rosary, give Her a chance. Talk to Her. The more you do it, the more surprised you’ll be.

I know from a logical POV that this is sound advice. But it seems that every time I become more “religious”, the more exhausted and angry I feel. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s like the more I learn about the church and its teachings and the bible etc the worse I feel about everything. Prayer used to help but when I started making the effort, everything seems to be going south.

I don’t know, maybe you just need to rest. Just talk to Our Lady like you would your mom, don’t make too much of an effort, take it slow, take it easy, I guess. She responds in some very odd ways. There are a lot of legends surrounding Her but I actually get them. Enough, to not dismiss as mere superstition.
