I feel like the world hates men

I have two very nice daughters, both are single, one is 22 the other 28, believe me they do not hate men or think they are all rapists. They are nice girls, and so are their friends. Universities are bad places for young minds. I am glad my daughters did not attend university. The feminists are the ones responsible for this. They hate men. Please don’t think all women are like them.
Not all women think this but not all women rape themselves. Also remember your daughters would have no vote/rights without the original feminists, We should all remember how despised they were

I am (as most of you know) a university student. Today, it is apparently “I hate men day”. Everything on the campus seems to be about sexual abuse. Fine, but putting numbers like “25% of college are victims of sexual assault” seems to really make me feel horrid. Now, the reason for that, is not because we don’t need to be warned about that, but because I know the study and I was talking to a math dude about it and he thinks the numbers are flawed too. Whatever, that is not what is making me angry either. Men get raped too. I am so sick of this “they have to want it”. NO! THAT’S NOT HOW THAT WORKS! And to be honest with you, I have been there. I feel like this is making me not like women and not want to continue my education here. I feel like everything ends up being about how repressive the patriarchy is and how all men will rape you if you’re a woman. Please pray for me. I feel like I am being pushed to the edge.
OP, the reason you are seeing it so much is that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month; you might see #SAAM as well. Your campus probably (hopefully) has a number of activities to raise awareness. There are several campaigns that organizations, including schools, use so they don’t have to reinvent the wheel. I see the NoMore.org campaign in my community and I follow it on social media. Another campaign I support is 1in6.org (along with the 1BlueString campaign) which is focused on male victims. There are many others and all are more active this month and, depending on their focus, in October as well.

Like I said, your campus probably has a number of activities going on this month. Instead of turning the focus back on to yourself, lend a hand, get involved, educate yourself. Sexual assault affects everyone, directly or indirectly. One of the signs I saw in my community is that SA costs my state over 1 billion dollars every year. And behind those statistics that you think are inflated are many victims that never come forth, including men.

God designed women to be women. They are to dress modestly and behave in a way that is pleasing to Him. God designed men to be men. They also should dress modestly and behave in a way that is pleasing to Him, but what I see is women, especially young women wearing skin tight pants with tops barely covering their breasts. Do they want to be noticed? Why do they dress this way? I rarely see men do this. I realize it is difficult for young women to find clothes that are not indecent in the popular stores, but they can be found. The reason I say this is because feminism has gone too far and we are seeing terrible things happening to women and men. They both suffer from this rejection of God’s design for us.

There many good men out there also. Most men I know want to protect women and they sincerely care about women and their feelings. Sometimes we need to listen to men and care about their feelings also. This person is reaching out to us for prayers, your reply is not very Christian.
Yes, very true. I didn’t say that there aren’t good men out there - not sure how you managed to get that out of my post. But his feelings here come from a quite dark and confused place. If his worth as a human being had been hurt in past, it wouldn’t hurt to think that maybe others experience trauma too and he can heal and get help without bashing other people for it (even worse, large groups of people - women).
It’s also very destructive to force the individual into a certain group and make him/her feel as his/her personal experiences apply to all the members of that group . This is his case. He thinks that if he experienced something tragic all men did so too. Not true. He’s unleashing his fury, probably stemming from frustration of society’s general inability to help and protect ,on a probably innocent movement that just wants to raise awareness of prevalent female rape - because it doesn’t focus on males being raped instead. See where I’m going?

Yes, my reply wasn’t Christian because I’m not afraid to express my honest point of view here. His post was angry and baseless and of course I got angry too. Don’t expect too much from a teen in regards to self control . Here, however, I just got sick at the same things being repeated over and over again like they somehow justify violence against girls/women. Why do they want to stop those movements? What’s in for them? I perceive this as a direct attack to female dignity . Women aren’t allowed to talk about their problems apparently , when men have done so for centuries. Nice.

Maybe I’m interpreting things wrong here, but the OP was started from a misinterpretation too , so it’s not that bad 😉

I don’t know in which world you live, but I see many beautiful men exposing themselves in public many times. Oh, plus the vulgarities they always utter at every corner you pass. Ooh, plus the porn they talk about like every day? And plus the way they throw sex in discussion like it’s nothing? Yeeeah, those dudes.

Yeah, only women. Always and always.

My grandmothers were the original feminists. They believed that because women were superior than men in matters of morality and spirituality, that when women are able to vote the world would become a better place for women and for children. I think that they would be a little disappointed learning that instead of raising the bar of morality and goodness for men they have lowered the bar for themselves.

I don’t know how old your grandmothers are/were but that sound like second-wave feminism, not first. The first feminists fought for things like education, property rights, rights to control their own money. They fought to show they were as good as men and had there own value and dignity, not that they were better. That sounds more like second-wave feminism. I know there are some people, and not just women, who think that women are better, but not all women are the same and neither are men. It’s silly for anyone to think that all women think with a hive mind instead of being individuals and it’s the same for men. Extremists (like radical feminists and MRA types) always have that view but it does seem to infect how others think of others, especially the opposite sex.

I feel bad if things like this happen around you everday. The men I know do not act this way. Most go to church and have wives and families, and they do not swear or watch porn. I am not saying all men are good, nor I am saying all women are bad. I think both men and women should behave in a way that is pleasing to God, Wearing decent clothing is good for both women and men, and dressing immodestly is not in the best interest for anyone.

My father’s mother was born in 1876. She was a widow who made her way in the early 1900’s on her own in Western Colorado. She understood mining and hard work.

My mother was born in 1870. She was a strong believer that women should be allowed to vote. My mother had great respect for her intelligence.

But they actually thought women, all women, were superior to men? Do you know why? A woman with a strong belief in the right of women to vote doesn’t seem strange but thinking women are morally or spiritually superior does.

I’m just curious because women in my family (and I’m thinking about both my maternal and paternal sides of the family) seemed to have to fight for an equal voice, respect. There isn’t a a feminist streak until maybe my generation but it’s far from radical.
