I just got home from Seattle. My younger brother has finally been discharged from the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (at wonderful place!!!) and was supposed to fly home to Anchorage today. However the eruption of Mount Redoubt forced the cancellation of all flights into Anchorage. (When it comes to planes versus volcanic ash, the ash always wins.)
So I had to find him a hotel near the airport. Fortunatly, since we had been monitoring the situation, we heard about the cancellations just a few minutes after they were announced. I immediately got him on another flight on Saturday (please Lord, let this flight make it there safely and at least close to on time). then I got him a hotel near the airport before they all filled up. A good thing I did!
So I left him at the hotel today and made the 3-1/2 hour drive back home.
But there is more. On Tuesday, my cleaning lady called me, while I was in Seattle with my brother, that the toilet in my mother;s bedroom was leaking all over the floor.
There is nothing that I could do and I explained that to my cleaning lady that I was out of town helping my brother with his cancer treatment. Apparently, she took it upon herself to oversee getting my toilet fixed. May God bless her!!!
I finally got home about two hours ago. The toilet is fixed and I am exhausted. Hopefully it will just be me and my mom for a while.
Tonight, I feel very old.
