Hey CAF,
I can’t take this any longer. I can’t live like this anymore. I feel stuck here. Please pray that I can leave New Mexico.

Though my job experience here has been valuable, I can’t live like this anymore.

Though the Land of Enchantment has a lot of great things to offer, it does not have a lot to offer in terms of meeting new people, and I feel I have already exhausted what it has to offer in that regard.

I work and have solo hobbies, but that’s it. Friends are hard to come by. And I’m not that young anymore, and as you know, I don’t want to be single anymore.

The breakup last June has taken away all the joy of living here. There are no further dating prospects in New Mexico for me. As long as I keep living here I know I’ll remain single. Is the only dating available to me long-distance dating?

I have a stable job in a city that’s cheap and easy to live, but what’s the point if I will be a lone ranger for the rest of the time that I am here? What’s the point of living in a town you don’t enjoy? What’s the point of life if you don’t enjoy it?

Despite the fact that life on earth is a blip compared to the afterlife, no one said that life on earth is supposed to be joyless, right?

But my life is joyless. In that sense, this place really is the Land of Entrapment.

What’s really upsetting me is that I know the best course of action is not to move until I have another job lined up. But when will that ever happen?? Until then, I realize I have to stay here, stuck in a place where I know I’ll be lonely and joyless for the rest of my time here.

I don’t want to waste any more joyless time. I’m not that young anymore. I feel the clock ticking and I can’t afford to be trapped any longer. Life isn’t all fun and games, but I want some joy back.

I want out, can you pray for me?

Yes… I can spare a truckload for you… When I was single… I only knew people under ten or over fifty… Yep.its really tough…

I feel your pain, as I live in a remote part of Tex. and if I felt the need to be married (That has not so far been a part of my penance) I too would feel entrapped.

Hang in there, as you know the economy is in the loo; good jobs are hard to come by and even once you leave, you are not assured a spouse, nobody is. Count it toward your penance until God leads you out of the desert, as He did with S. Joseph.

God Bless and ICXC NIKA

Where do you have friends and family? Older female relatives are great for introducing you to nice people. Go home! And find a nice church when you get there. 🙂

While you’re looking for a job, you might consider doing a bit of volunteer work. Where I live, they have after-school tutoring for which they try to find volunteers, as well as so many things for the poor. I know someone who volunteered fixing old bicycles which were then given to homeless people, or-- for some reason I think you are in computers-- there are often library programs to help people learn to use them, also ESL programs, which I have seen at libraries, churches, and schools. Animal shelters also appreciate help.

I think that doing something like that would help you get out of what seems to be a bit of a rut of isolation. We’re not really meant to live these isolated lives; even introverts need to be a part of a community and to feel like they are doing something meaningful.

What about putting up a Notice in the Church you go to, do they have a Notice Board.

Cool Catholic guy wants to meet a nice Church going Catholic lady for starters and then marriage if all goes well.

Ask some of your friends do they know of a “nice Catholic lady” introductions are sometimes best.

Good luck and God Bless on your Search, you know the saying " What is for you wont pass you by."

There’s no guarantee that if you move someplace else it will be any different. Many older people find it harder to find new friends, so you’re not alone.
