What job do you want to do? Generally, we can start trying to do what interests us, and it will turn out to be God’s will for us. If not, He will put roadblocks in our way.
If it is his will, he will open doors.
Have you considered doing volunteer work in a field that interests you? That way you can see what its like, and get a foot in the door.
It sounds as if you are not desperate for work, you have a place to stay and food to eat. So you can take time to find something you will enjoy.

It is recommended that we treat looking for work like a job: get up early every morning, spend 8 hours making phone calls, filling out applications, asking for informational interviews. I like informational interviews: have you done any of those? You ask for 10 or 15 minutes of an employer’s time to discuss the kind of jobs they have, the kind of skills or education they are looking for, what they look for in an employee. You are not trying to persuade them to hire you, so the pressure is off, you are just gathering information, which can be very useful.
With all due respect and I genuinely hope you see me as speaking the truth in love. Your post is EXACTLY the worse part of being unemployed. Everyone telling me what to do. I am sick of hearing it and also, there is an indirect message that I am not competent to know these things myself. Not to say the total lack of consideration that just because these cliché things work or some people, they actually work for everyone

I know you meant well, but I do feel I need to speak up for hurting people like me. When someone shares about a painful cross they are bearing in their life, they want to hear ‘I am so sorry you are going through this.’ NO ONE wants a lecture they did not ask for

If someone says ‘I don’t know how to find work’, your response is appropriate. But when someone says ‘I want to find God’s voice in my pain’, your response just hurts
