Bumping this, to see how things are going for Scapularkid and everyone else. Prayer has been a struggle for me during Lent, but I keep trying to get up and start again every day. Some are better than others.

. . .

One other question:
How does one who is already in the desert approach Lent? Isn’t that when we’re supposed to “enter the desert”?
In such an instance you approach the desert with even less baggage; it comes down to that acronym “KISS” 😃 Don’t add more prayers to what you are already doing, pare it down to the Mass, Liturgy of the Hours and an occasional rosary. It’s tempting in the desert to think “if I add this prayer, this novena, etc., etc., I’ll get back to that spiritual high I previously enjoyed”. Turn your will to loving God in simplicity and offer your suffering that His love will flower in the heart of another.

My prayers are with you.

Thanks for the “bump,” Mary3, since it brought my attention to this thread which I had not seen before. Lent does seem to be a real desert this year; I am having more difficulty with prayer than I have had in a very long time. It’s good to know I am not alone and that it will pass in time. Let’s pray for each other.

My prayers are with you… I’m going through a bit of a drought myself, and it does help to know others feel the same at times. I was reminded today in a strange random way of something I read the other day, but it didn’t sink in at the time. It then put things in perspective and helped me realize that there is a reason we sometimes find ourselves in this place… it was about a cup needing to be emptied before it can become full again…

I can’t find it for the life of me now, It may have been in the Catechism, if anyone knows where it is located… please let me know.

Please know that am here for you if you ever need to talk…
and I will pray for you 🙂

Bless you,
Margaret
