I feel very sad and depressed

I feel like quiting, giving up and throwing in the towel…I do have a therapist that I go to every other week…Im 39 and also realized that my Mother has always had a mental illness…and my Dad died of a heroin overdose almost 11 years ago…and I am obese…

communicate the gospel best by being
people of JOY, it is a GIFT of the Holy
Spirit, ask God for this gift!!

Praying for you. Pray for me too. I suffer depression quite a lot. Don’t give up.

O Lady of Mental Peace,
Mother of Tranquility
and Mother of Hope,
look upon Jaysdec in this time
of weakness and unrest.

Teach her searching heart
to know that God’s Love
for her is unchanging and
unchangeable, and, that
true human love can only
begin and grow by touching
His Love.

Let your gentle Peace -

I thank God for helping you come through all the hurt and trauma of your childhood, you are a wonderful example of survival and grace.
I pray that God will help you to know your preciousness in His eyes, which is perhaps hidden from you because your childhood was cheated of stability and unconditional love.
I ask the Lord to help you cope with the new realization, which quite naturally has sent you into a tailspin; as it’s hard to face when the perceptions of childhood give way to adult clarity.
and I pray that the obesity that makes you feel worse about yourself, itself a possible symptom of unhappiness, will resolve as you feel stronger and happier as a truly unique child of God.

May our dear Lord guide and bless you into knowing that you are not the sum of a broken childhood or your body image, but you are a unique beloved child of God, who called you into His Church to heal and nurture you and to make you His own.
 
I am praying for you. Do not be afraid. All will be well. Jesus is standing next to you. He cares. Whisper to him.

I guess the message I took away from that is to have not let yourself have a constricted view. The possibilities are endless. You can do anything. You can and will make a deep impact on the world when you live a Christ like life.
 
Appreciating others

Jesus, I honour You for others goodness. Yet, help me to share Your compassion, respect and delight in those who seem (to themselves or others)to reflect Your face poorly. Grant me the gift of conveying to each person, the beautiful, glimpsed vision of self, as You love him or her, a fallible human with entwined faults and virtues.

One sometimes glimpses another’s discouraged self-judgement, for he fears that Your plan of salvation builds upon some unlikely ‘ideal self’. He perhaps hopes that to others, only the good is evident. He fears that were others to sense the extent of his unworthiness, they may reject him—as indeed he fears You may.

Jesus, please extend Your hand to him through those who see his efforts and who have faith in the secret, unique miracle of him. Let him know that You love him as he is, and that You plan his holiness around his actual self. You fulfill Your dream of him and serve others through his flawed personality with its abilities, gifts and virtues, along with its faults and scars. Assure him that his efforts to live the Gospel are more precious because of his temptations and flaws, so that he is encouraged to faith and self-acceptance.

God let me see and share Your beautiful, unique, creative vision of each brother and sister, regardless of ‘apparent’ flaws. In my warm acceptance of him grant to each person that restoring, blossoming fruitfulness of love—which the image of him cherished and accepted as he really is—produces in the most barren and bleak heart.

It seems that losing weight may help your self-esteem. I have been trying to lose 25 pounds for a long time. I haven’t even lost 1 yet. Praying that you will get out to a coffee shop, library, etc., and continue going to Church for special graces to cope with your challenges. God bless.
 
Prayer of St. Dymphna

Lord, our God, you graciously chose St. Dymphna as patroness of those afflicted with mental, emotional, and nervous disorders. She is thus an inspiration and a symbol of charity to the thousands who ask her intercession.

Please grant, Lord, through the prayers of this pure youthful martyr, relief and consolation to all suffering such trials, and especially for Jasdec.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant Jasdec patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will. Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so desire.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, who suffered agony in the garden. Amen.
