I fell in love with Christ in a Protestant church

But now, I am even that much more in love with Him. I have had so many conversion experiences in my life that everyday seems to be a new conversion experience. What I’m experiencing is ongoing conversion. My love for God has grow so much that I can’t keep my mouth shut about Him even with strangers. I tell people all the crazy things that lead me to the Catholic Church, away and then back again.

I’m in the same boat. I met and fell in love with Jesus in a protestant church, but he led me home.

Hey, it’s more than possible to meet and fall in love with Jesus Christ at home and never leave home! That’s (I guess technically) how I did it. I did have a period of time where I would have considered my self lapsed, but then I got involved at my new (at the time) parish and what do you know, I fell in love with Christ and have been burning ever since.

I notice you call your self a lapsed Catholic, any reason why?

I fell in love with Jesus as a child and didn’t go to church without my mom, who hardly went at all and never when I got to grade school. My faith deepened when I prepared for first communion but never received enough training nor lived in a family with a practicing Catholic. My dad just went through the motions.

Why would you do that assuming you’ve learned the truth about the Catholic Church? I’d rather die that deny my faith now. My culpability is very high now so I would not be covered under invincible ignorance. I’ll add you to my prayers.

It states he/she is a “Catholic leaning Protestant”.

Unfortunately this is probably true. St. Jerome said something like this “to not know scripture is to not know Christ”. And there is so much truth to this. But Catholics have the real Christ present in the Eucharist and once that is understood, nothing can replace it.
 
So what should we say about a Catholic who is deciding to convert to Orthodoxy or Lutheranism or Anglicanism? If the Holy Spirit only guides us to Catholicism, what is the Holy Spirit doing to these folks. Is it the work of Satan? Cardinal Ratzinger said several years ago, before becoming pope, that the Holy Spirit gives grace to Lutherans in their beautiful service of the Lord’s Supper. Is all activitiy in Protestant churches by the Holy Spirit just preparatory work for becoming Catholic?

I am glad you came to know Christ, but people can come to love Christ within the Catholic Churh as well. Traditional Catholic Churches which preach on sin & repentance will bring people to Christ. Although, a Catholic Church which preaches only mercy without justice, is not doing any favors for the congregation. Jesus said repent & believe in the gospel. There has to be a personal conviction of sin within our lives, which will lead us to the mercy of Christ. Political correctness within the gospel of Christ will not lead anyone to heaven. We have to prolaim the truth, which at times might offend people. But who is it offending? More often than not, people in sin with the need of repentance. The gospel needs to penetrate our hearts. And warm & fuzzy preaching will not convict anyone of sin.

I always liked Jeff Lynn–even his solo stuff. It scares me a bit that our musical tastes are so similar. :eek:

But I still say that Lennon is the fabbest of the Fab four (Harrison would be my second choice). 😉
 
Jeff Lynnn was and IS the man! I love ELO. “Telephone Line,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Showdown,” “Evil Woman,” heck what’s not to love!?

I LOVED it when Lynn was with the Traveling Wilbury’s. I still say George was the best Beatle. George and Jeff were buddies for years. They have a lot of style commonalities. I like “Handle with Care” and “End of the Line.” Those were great tunes.

My favorite George tunes were “Dream Away” (the song from Time Bandits) and “Cheer Down” the ending credits tune he wrote for the film Lethal Weapon.

Can’t beat George. “Something” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” are untouchable baby! :p:D
