Jeff Lynnn was and IS the man! I love ELO. “Telephone Line,” “Mr. Blue Sky,” “Showdown,” “Evil Woman,” heck what’s not to love!?

I LOVED it when Lynn was with the Traveling Wilbury’s. I still say George was the best Beatle. George and Jeff were buddies for years. They have a lot of style commonalities. I like “Handle with Care” and “End of the Line.” Those were great tunes.

My favorite George tunes were “Dream Away” (the song from Time Bandits) and “Cheer Down” the ending credits tune he wrote for the film Lethal Weapon.

Can’t beat George. “Something” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” are untouchable baby!

Hahaha… I would tend to agree. Though I think McCartney was a better songwriter, Harrison is simply under rated as a guitarist. In any event, Lennon is simply over rated. Yeah, Handle Me with Care is addicting!

But Lennon had it all…controversy…songwriting…that one-of-a-kind vocal…okay… I could have done without Yoko…but hey…nobody’s perfect.

As a guitar-player myself since I was 12 years old, I have always found George’s ability to play a slide guitar unrivaled and just insane. He’s haunting. And his voice, quite frankly, is my favorite. He has a whimsical, sarcastic, backwards kind of tone to his songs, and yet they remain perky and fun. He lost me with the Hinduism Hare Krishna stuff and the whole wife-swapping thing with Clapton (LOL) but boy was he awesome otherwise LOL…

McCartney is great, gotta love Wings! John Lennon’s personal agenda and his anti-Christian stuff, his gay lifestyle, Yoko, and the lyrics to Imagine all irritate the crud out of me. He was a great and gifted song-writer though. I admire much of his work but as a person I thought he was quite a piece of work (as my dad would say).

Oh man… this is wierd. I’ve been playing since the age of eight. I write and record my own music now.

Yes…George’s style was unique and haunting. I think he lost his way on the Krishna stuff. And although Lennon’s lifestyle was not something to emulate…he had that extra something in his style (especially with the Beatles).

And yes… Paul must not be discounted. Although after the Wings, it seems as though he lost his edge.

I’m not a fan of Floyd until they made Dark Side. All the stuff before that was just bland, too psychadelic, and just goofy to me. I never liked the Syd Barrett days with See Emily Play and Arnold Layne, etc…too dang bizarre even for me! Just wasn’t catchy or mood-making either…

Hi crazzeto, And gurney, I’ll include you too: it’s because of my present husband, who doesn’t know I want to return to the Church, and also I need an annulment which he probably would freak out about even more. I’ve been praying about this for a few years now, it’s taking a long time but he is watching Chesterton with me now. And he just got a book by Cardinal Newman about how a university should be run (or something; can’t remember the title). We also like Dr. J. Budiszewski’s (sp?) books. I read “Imitation of Christ” and “Orthodoxy” without any problems from him.

BUT, he is the biggest ELO fan ever!!! And Traveling Wilburys!!! (well, I like 'em too)

But now, I am even that much more in love with Him. I have had so many conversion experiences in my life that everyday seems to be a new conversion experience. What I’m experiencing is ongoing conversion. My love for God has grow so much that I can’t keep my mouth shut about Him even with strangers. I tell people all the crazy things that lead me to the Catholic Church, away and then back again.

Yup, same here. I learned to live Him in Protestantism and now I love Him even more in the Church that He founded. Jesus Christ is so good to us to give us The Catholic Church. Thank you Jesus!
