…After almost 20 years. I felt a big weight off my shoulders and the priest was delighted to see me which was comforting. I now plan to go back to confession at least once a month as I didn’t get everything off my chest. There was a big cue for confession as it is holy week so although the priest was very thorough and inspired me to come back I felt he had to move it along a little to get everyone seen before mass which is understandable of course. Now I have to re-learn my Catholic faith and prayers. Would anyone be able to point me in tbe right direction?

Get to Mass every week, and more frequently if you’re able.
Pray the Rosary.
Read, Read, Read. The Catechism, the Bible, the Lives of the Saints, apologetic resources… just read.

Welcome Home!

you didn’t say whether you attend Mass regularly, but, in any case:

Wow! Welcome back!

I would suggest going to Mass every Sunday, and inquiring whether your parish (or one nearby) has any adult faith-building programs, like Bible study groups or Catechism-based programs.

If you like to read, try some good Catholic books. Here is a recent thread with many excellent recommendations:

Spiritual reading recommendations? Spirituality
I’m about to finish “Him and I” by Gabrielle Bosis and I absolutely loved it! My two other all time favorites have been The Story of a Soul and The Diary of Saint Faustina. Does anyone have any recommendations on what book I should read next?
Also try to pray regularly.

May the Holy Spirit continue to assist and guide you always toward greater faith, hope, and love.

Read the book “secrets of the rosary” - really opened my eyes to the power of the rosary, how important it is in catholicism, how it has served as a great penance for our past sins, how it has saved souls.

I started to attend mass again a few weeks back. I intend on going twice a week thanks.

Scott Hahn’s works are highly recommended. He writes for converts, but he has opened cradle Catholics’ eyes to many things. I’d also suggest EWTN’s Journey Home program, interviews with converts and re-verts. You can find them on Youtube.
Otherwise, welcome home. There are a ton of catechetical writings, teachings, saints’ autobiographies, etc. You won’t lack for a lifetime of wonderful things and deep, rich culture. Not to mention Jesus Himself in the Sacraments 🙂

I would like to suggest the rosary as well. I learned to pray it before even inquiring about Catholicism. Each day I don’t pray it is something considerably less than it could have been.

No I didn’t with hold any deliberately, the chapel was a bit packed with people trying to get confession so it was hurried a little and as it was my first time in 20 years it was sort of new to me so I was a bit nervous. Next time I think it will be more relaxed.

See if you can find videos of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen.

Outstanding.

Books? “Weeds Among the Wheat” by Fr. Thomas H. Green

{I usually only get one page when my mind explodes! } {So, I skip around.}
