I find this so ironic

Yes, it is sad.

There are misundestandings that cannot be fixed just to please ourselves and our family members. We all need to respect the dignity of others, and they should respect our dignity.

When it is a matter of conscience as to why we choose to do certain things, we hope that our family and friends will just let it be.

It can be uncomfortable to love others because God created them, and then be misunderstood and disliked by those people because of our beliefs.

The sincere love of God needs to be first in all our choices. And with the help of the Lord we can make these choices in peace and love to those who oppose us.

That is the best way that I can explain.
 
You are right it is ironic but the truth is that it is not a surprise to me. We need to show patience, understanding and love to everyone no matter what they believe or what faith they profess. I am praying for this constantly.

There is no hate involved . . . at least there is none in the people involved in my situation, which was one of the threads you referenced.

It is sad that there is division among some Christian groups, yes. I have faith that we will somehow work it out before my wedding, though.

Yes. There is unavoidably a lot of sadness when kids marry outside the faith of their family. (My family is Protestant and I and both my siblings married Catholics. Grandma said, “What did we do wrong?”)
