I forgot my confirmation saint

Hi,
Does anybody know if the church that confirms you keeps a record of it? I know they keep baptism records but i’m not sure about the confirmation? It’s been a while since i was confirmed and i’m so embarrassed to say i forgot the saint i picked. At that time i was just kind of going with the flow and sorry to say i guess it wasn’t that important to me.

I have the same problem. I know my confirmation name is Theresa but I’m not sure if it was spelled like that, and I don’t know which saint it was. I called the parish where I was confirmed and they didn’t have a record of it. you should try anyway. maybe you’ll be luckier than me.

My parish made no record of my patroness either. They told me to choose one, we put it on a nametag for me, and the bishop called me by name when confirming me… you should have seen his face - I am male, and I chose Katherine of Alexandria.

But my certificate does not record my patroness and I am sure the records do not mention it either. It is not required but just a pious custom, so I guess there is no requirement to record it.

As far as I know it’s not usually recorded. If you really want to know you might have to cop some embarrassment (it’s not like it’s a terribly awful thing to forget though) and ask your family or friends or someone.

At my Confirmation they gave me a piece of paper, saying the date and other things, but it never had the name of my Confirmation Saint on it, as the Bishop doesn’t even know what it will be until you walk up and your sponsor says what it is. Perhaps you should ask your sponsor? I’m sure he/she will know, if they’re dedicated to the job that they accepted.

If your Confirmation Saint is Terese there probably is no H in it, as I don’t know any Saints by the name of “Theresa”. As far as I know, it will either be Saint Therese or Saint Teresa. Which ones, I don’t know. I would recommend asking your sponsor.

I would imagine they don’t record it. It’s a cultural thing to have one to begin with. It’s custom in many countries to not even have a confirmation sain.

yes confirmation is recorded in its own register, and there is a space for the confirmation name. It is also recorded in the baptismal record of the parish where you were baptized, but not the name, just the date and place of confirmation.

In not all times and places is the candidate asked formally to choose a confirmation saint so it may not always be recorded.

I think I already did. loing ago. She has 8 kids and is 80 something years old. She probably doesn’t even remember her own kid’s confirmation names.

I’m just curious, why does it matter? I have no idea who my confirmation saint was, and I’ve never really even thought about it. I don’t even remember my confirmation name, I think I chose Thomas to make it simple, but I couldn’t say for sure.
