a god? if there is one it’s nothing to do with me

though this is all in my opinion, science has proven the stars exploding part. i won’t argue or say what i believe is better, or even if the ‘proven fact’ part is correct

Any comments, I think that guy is extremely insightful for a fourteen year old.

He got it right on the mark, and I agree with him completely.

While science can explain very well as to how the Universe came into being (and I know this very well, being a Physicist), it can nor will it ever be able to explain why the Universe came into existence. Materialism is a much more complicated explanation for the why than is theism, and by Occam’s Razor we should therefore conclude that theism is correct. Note that this has nothing to do with science.

Do you still agree with his “reason”? Also, why if there is a God, does that have nothing to do with you?

This is one of the saddest things I’ve read. No wonder people think “He who dies with the most toys wins”.

Insightful. I think this guy is just spouting stuff he’s heard, maybe by our learned professionals in the teaching industry?

BTW, Ribo, what is that design on your signature?

I’ve been arguing the same thing for years, and haven’t run across a coherent refutation yet.

Coulda been me when I was 14. I knew it all then too. 🙂

But he’s (probably) got a long, long time to reconsider. Invite him to this forum and let him talk to all the former atheists and agnostics here. He might get a hint that “There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” From there he’ll just have to follow the truth as best he can determine it.

Better yet, I want to debate the former atheists and agnostics here… I do not know that person. I only posted in that thread, started a thread asking for Ash Ketchum’s religion, and requested a Pokémon episode on that forum.

I doubt many of them exist, as most of the converts here converted from a form a Protestants.

Hey, I think I got a better idea. Give me all the links regarding the testimonies of former atheists and agnostics from This Rock. I think you would find one, two at most.

Which one, the bottom pic or the top one? The bottom one is a Pokémon (Dragonite). Want to find out which Pokémon are you? Click on the picture…

Regarding my other figure, it is a ribozyme. For more info, click “source” in my signature. It shows amazing catalytic prowesss (see figure 4B under “Round-18 ribozyme”).

I suppose I would qualify as a convert from agnosticism, even though I am a Cradle Catholic. I spent years away from the Church, thinking there probably was a God but not doing anything about it. Does that count as agnosticism? I don’t know. Anyway if you would like a debate, you’re more than welcome to tackle my previous post in this thread.

I agree that you probably won’t find many athestic converts. They tend to be more obstinant than Protestants. After all, a Protestant already knows God exists, it’s just a matter of believing everything He revealed. It takes an atheist much longer to admit he’s wrong.

BTW, I have never gotten a convincing answer on how everything came into existence without a first cause. Maybe you can give me a convincing answer.

Also, I have a difficult time accepting something as being intelligent posted by a 14 year old on a Pokemon website. Isn’t Pokemon for 5-8 year olds?

His comments sound more like he’s been indoctrinated by the political correctness in public schools rather than something he thought of himself.

P.S. I like that ribozyme design in your signature, but lose the Pokemon. You’re much too old and intelligent to be watching it.
 
Science is the limited understanding of God’s creation. Oh yes I took that Pokemon test out of curiosity and I am a Dragonite as well. God speed.

Luv4mary, I read that other thread, and I’ve got to remind you to look on the bright side. It was apparent from the thread that you touched several people’s lives with your post. I counted around 10 that responded enthusiastically and who knows how many more were touched but didn’t feel the need (or urge) to respond, but were still touched. I wouldn’t let the 3-4 people that hi-jacked your thread get in the way of the positive. Remember the angels in heaven weep with joy for every lost sheep that is found, all the while knowing that there are countless other lost sheep.

Keep up the good work!!!
