If ur a catholic is the only way to talk to god is it thew jesus?

Can u only pray thew jesus or ask for forginess thew jesus
if ur catholic

If you are referring to intercessory prayer, then the answer is no. Jesus is the mediator of our redemption, but we can ask anyone to pray for us, including the saints in heaven, who are alive in Christ, not dead. Or have I missed your whole idea?

like if i were asking for forgiveness would i need to ask
jesus to?

Jesus IS God, remember, so it’s not a question of only going through one or the other. If you’re talking about asking other people to pray for you that you be forgiven of your sins, it certainly can’t hurt to ask them to do so.

Now Catholic teaching is that for mortal (serious) sin Catholics need, except in emergency situations, to confess to a priest and receive forgiveness from God through the priest in that way.

Hope this helps.

Yes, Jesus is who we turn to for forgiveness, since He (God) alone is our salvation.

We may ask our brothers and sisters in heaven and on earth to pray for us on our journey of redemption, in Jesus Christ, Amen.

i thought jesus was the son of god
Christians believe in God as a Trinity - three-in-one.

Jesus, God the Father and the Holy Spirit are all God - the same one God in essence, but in the form of three distinct persons.

Jesus is God-made-man, but no less God for that.

so if i were to ask for forgiveness i could ask either 1 of them
for it?

Yes! The Father, The Son, & The Holy spirit are are three distinct perons but only one God. “The Trinity”

It is a mystery of the faith and can be quite difficult to put your head around it. For me, the way I relate is by using a bit of science… Molecule H2O = God!
ICE = Father
Water = Son
Steam = Spirit

All three different but essentially the same!

I hope this helps and does not confuse you more.

As for sin, talk to Jesus about it ask him to show mercy upon you and that you are truly sorry for sins you have commited. You may also if you wish go talk with a priest I’m sure he will be more than willing to help you with any and all your qusetions.

Peace!

I will pray for you!

Yes, but God has revealed himself to us in the person of the God-man, Jesus, who died for our sins. So, we usually ask for forgiveness from Jesus and/or in his name. The Holy Spirit is usually asked for inspiration and an increase in devotion and love.

I’ve got to mention, confession to a Catholic priest is only required if you’re a baptised Catholic of course 🙂

Thank you for that! That really helped, and I didn’t know I need it!

Not so - when a priest gives absolution in the confessional it’s in the name of the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. And at the Penitential Rite in Mass it’s ‘Almighty God’, always. Not Jesus

And my Act of Contrition begins ‘Oh my God …’ not ‘Oh my Jesus …’
