For an approach to “mysteries” which are mentioned by Paul, but not always approached thoroughly in protestant teaching, read Sheed’s “Theology and Sanity.” This work comes in handy when asking yourself about the trinity.

He suggests not trying to make a metaphor or similie out of it, and simply receiving the grace of seeking to have faith in the mystery.
