We had a terrible wind storm Wednesday night and our power went out around 1:00am. Hubby had to go into work for awhile, but came home early so he could hook up his dad’s generator to our frig, and freezer for awhile. So he stopped to get water and something for us to eat for dinner and for breakfast as we didn’t want to open the frig and the power company said we wouldn’t have power again until Sat. or Sunday…it was getting pretty chilly in the house. I have a terrible cold, as do all of the kids. We were bundled up waiting for the power to come back on and trying to decide what our next move would be. We thought we could tough it out one night. We do a lot of camping so we have heavy duty sleeping bags and we had already planned on camping out in the den with those, but if it was going to be off for days, we would have to go stay somewhere else…my wonderful hubby comes home with a gift for me!!! A blue snuggie ( I look like a smurf
) He said he saw it at the grocery store and laughed out loud…he just had to buy it!! He knew how cold I get, plus! now I could come onto CAF and tell everyone that I have a snuggie! I asked him if he was trying to show off for my CAF friends? He said, maybe a little!! Silly boy!! So I wore my snuggie, It’s not too bad!! nice and warm, of course I haven’t tried eating popcorn with it on, that will be the true test…so we got the kids all covered up in our -20 degree sleeping bags, got them all asleep and his dad showed up with the generator again…it had been running about 15 mins. when the power came back on!!! So, it was only off for about 18 hours. We have some trees down in the yard, but nothing bad. My sister in law had several trees come down on their cars, one totaled. Another tree fell on their side porch, ripping it off the house. The blessing is, our 9 year old niece’s bedroom is by the side porch. The trees missed her room and hit the porch instead and we are very grateful for that! So we are all safe and warm. Everything that has been ruined can be replaced, thanks be to God!! and I got a snuggie out of the deal too:thumbsup:
