I was doing laundry with my dad at a laundromat this evening and while we were doing the laundry, we watched the news on CBS. CBS is doing a nightly feature on “Faces of Faith” or something about that and it was talking about the shortage of priests here in the U.S.

The news anchor made a comment about Jesus establishing the priesthood and my dad made a comment, “Jesus did not establish the priesthood?”

What exactly can I read to disprove his statement?

Thanks.

Is your dad a Catholic?
No, he’s Protestant. I’m also Protestant, but I’ll be starting RCIA in the fall and probably will end up joining the Catholic Church.

this might help. It’s an article by Jimmy Akin about the New Testament Priesthood:

Thanks, although I can expect a major disagreement from him since he’ll see that as only elders (which I had asked about in the “Does any Catholic teaching contradict the Bible” thread).
