I had a dream of Satan

“O Glorious Prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the terrible warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come to the aid of man, whom Almighty God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.

“Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in Heaven. That cruel, ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.

“These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has been set up as the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be.

“Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly find mercy in the sight of the Lord; and vanquishing the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.
V. Behold the Cross of the Lord; be scattered ye hostile powers.
R. The Lion of the tribe of Judah has conquered the root of David.
V. Let Thy mercies be upon us, O Lord.
R. As we have hoped in Thee.
V. O Lord, hear my prayer.
R. And let my cry come unto Thee.

Let us pray.
O God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, we call upon Thy holy Name, and as supplicants, we implore Thy clemency, that by the intercession of Mary, ever Virgin Immaculate and our Mother, and of the glorious St. Michael the Archangel, Thou wouldst deign to help us against Satan and all the other unclean spirits who wander about the world for the injury of the human race and the ruin of souls. Amen.”

Last night I had a dream of a girl I knew in elementary school. In my dream she somehow got involved in the occult and she was begging me to help her. So I started renouncing demons. I started to say, “In the name of Jesus…” but it only came out in a whisper and with difficulty. So I paused and asked her if she could hear me. She said, “yes.” So I continued. I began again, only being able to whisper and said, “In the name of Jesus I renounce the spirit of (the demon)…” Immediately appearing on the television screen was the devil with his head to the ground and someone standing on his head. I continued to speak saying, “…and I command you to leave NOW!” Immediately, Satan vanished and a burn mark was left in the ground where his head used to be. Then I turned to my friend and said, “See how much power there is in His (Jesus) name.”

I woke up and it was 3:00 a.m.
That is in a dream. How would you face that kind of situation in real life? I think “well equipped” is needed.

I had a friend who had a dream of two demons fighting with St. Michael. When he woke up he googled their names and they were real demons that he had never heard of before (at least according to the internet). He doesn’t remember their names now.

Probably for the best.

I find the long version of the prayer to St. Michael especially helpful durning such spirtual darkness.
Certain names of demons will come up when “playing” with a Ouija board (unknown to the person using it), one in particular (and it is not found in the Bible or anywhere else). Pretty scary to read about. The Ouija board seems to be addicting, I’ve read about people who’ve had very upsetting experiences with them, and yet they will keep coming back to it, sometimes leading to suicide. I’m not superstitious at all, but I’d never touch a Ouija board.

So this was without daylight savings time right? I wonder if Satan followed the change George Bush made or if he is such a rebel he doesn’t do daylight savings time at all! In another 3 weeks you’ll be waking up with Satan dreams at 4 am!

The night of Ash Wednesday, I had a dream that I woke up from something pulling at my arms and breathing loudly. I looked and over the side of my bed was as an extremely dark shadow. I tried to yell at it “In the Name of Jesus Christ I command you to leave” but couldn’t speak, so I simply prayed in my mind, and it went away; I don’t remember what happened after that. When I woke up later, I was still lying in the same position I had been in the “dream.” It didn’t feel like a normal dream at all, and it had in fact interrupted another, unrelated dream, and yet it didn’t feel like I was truly awake. I’m still not sure whether this really happened.
ah… ye old Shadow People.
years and years ago…
i saw one once on my way to work one morning. i stopped at a shop to buy a salad roll for breakfast and i was standing at the counter waiting to pay when out of the corner of my eye i saw the fuzzy-edged blacker than night shadow of a tall man right behind me leaning forward slightly towards me to my left… looking at me, but with no eyes or features visible.
i fairly swung around to look at it but it disappeared. there was nobody else in the shop and the expression on the guys face behind the counter was pretty real. he could see that i had seen something or that something had happened and that i had had a start.
but neither of us said anything.
i felt it was not a friendly presence .

I already have had to face that kind of situation, It was through the sacrament of reconciliation that I was advised to renounce, “In the name of Jesus…”

I was being tormented by demons. I would go to bed at night and my room would go cold, I would smell sulfur, it would feel as though all hope and light was gone and the life was being drained out of my body. (Kind of like the dementors on Harry Potter). These attacks would come on suddenly and furiously.

I thought that I was losing my mind and started seeing a nun for counselling. When things were really bad for me a friend gave me a gift. It was a statue of St. Michael. A few days later a different friend gave me a booklet with St. Michael on the cover with forgiveness prayers in it. Then again a few days later I obtained another book with St. Michael on the cover called “Spiritual Warfare.” I caught on and soon realized that St. Michael was with me and giving me the means to defend myself. So, shortly after God inspired me to move. Very quickly I moved 30 minutes away and led to an apartment that was ironically very close to a perpetual adoration chapel. As soon as I made this physical move I felt a huge sense of relief but it wasn’t over yet. I still was haunted by feelings of darkness, and hopelessness. One night it was so bad that I thought I would be swallowed up, so I got up out of bed and got into my car. I turned on the Catholic radio station and the first words I heard were, “We are in a spiritual WAR!” It was more validation.

Following that I was invited to be part of a spiritual warfare prayer group and then invited to attend a Deliverance retreat called unbound where I was armed with the tools I needed to protect myself from spiritual attacks. After the retreat I experienced growing freedom.

I learned I was not fighting alone. I had the protection of St. Michael and God was protecting me himself by keeping me physically close to Him in the Eucharist. Frequent reconciliation, frequent communions and most of all trusting in the name of Jesus has been my saving grace.

Thanks to my experiences I know an attack when it comes and I have the tools to be victorious. My confidence is not in myself but in the name of Jesus. He has promised me that he will “catch me if I fall.”

What was the name of your spiritual warfare prayer group? I wish there were groups like that around my parish. Unfortunately, a lot of people, including Catholics don’t believe in a lot of that stuff.

Thanks for reposting. I had read the text, but it only stated not to do it, which I will certainly obey. I just figured it was a prayer like any other, and could be used as any other prayer that called upon St. Michael for protection.
This is, because the church has reserved the prayers of solemn exorcism to the clergy who have permission from their ordinary.

We didn’t have a name. We prayed the prayers of renunciation and protection and the rosary. The retreat a went to though was called “Unbound” through Heart of the Father Ministries.

🙂 An excerpt of the third prayer of exorcism from the 1614 Rite of Exorcism is usually what is referred to as the “long form” of the prayer to St.Michael. Because you didn’t post the text of the prayer you meant, I couldn’t tell you if we are talking about the same one.🤷
I posted the full text in post 11 and you quoted me quoting it in post 14, but thanks for playing.

I’m sorry, I had you confused with Ysara. The one you posted is the opening of the third prayer of exorcism.

Certainly that is what material positivists call it, but I’m not at all convinced.
I am not saying a demon cannot exploit the condition, I am convinced they can because of a number of experiences I have had- and mental prayer to Jesus orSt. Michael is what finally rescued me. But I have also had many experiences where paralysis is all that happens. Sleep paralysis is the underlying medical condition, an interruption in the sleep cycle where you mind awakens but your body does not right away.

Hmm- according to a book on demoniacal possession and exorcism I once read, three o’clock(esp in the morning ) is the true"witching hour" not just to mock the Holy Trinity but also the precise time of Christ’s death on the Cross. Several years ago I was working on a portrait of Mephisto( a Marvel Comics character who often claims to be and has the same physical appearance- sans cloven hooves if course- of the Devil) when all of a sudden I felt a strong feeling that someone- or more to the point SOMETHING- was definitely watching me( I have only had the sensation once before when i was working on a portrait of Blessed John Paul II).

I had a dream once, while I was asleep on my couch. In the dream, I looked over to one of the walls of my apartment where (in the dream) I had three crucifixes hanging near each other.

One of them fell off of the wall; annoyed, I got up to retrieve it from the floor, but upon standing I saw the other two begin to twist along the wall, until they were upside-down.

The apartment went completely dark. I stood up, and could sense a hateful presence watching me from within the deeper darkness of the kitchen.

At that point, I woke up. It was 3 p.m., not a.m., but I was still shaken for days.

:)God bless you. I’m sorry to have to inform you that the prayer in question is part of the rite of exorcism and is prohibited to the laity.:sad_yes:
I am a bit confused about this prayer

traditioninaction.org/religious/b009rpMichael.htm

This is the one I was referring to and is in the devotioal book to St Michael and also in the Novena book… I appologise if I have caused confusion over this… Of course the rite of exorcism is for clergy only and thank-God this is so… only they who are ordained can and should do this full rite. 🙂

I ask St Michael to bless all who have spoke in this thread… may God be with you all

Sounds like a personalized deliverance ministry lesson 101 in a dream. It is the faith, love, and trust behind the deliverance prayer that gives it power, not how loud you pray.
