I had a dream our parish Priest died

I don’t know where I should post this or even if I should.

I know dreams can be just dreams…

But, a few nights ago I dreamt I was at Church, I was reading the Church bulletin, and it stated that our parish Priest died. 😦

I asked the lady sitting next to me, “Fr. (____) was sick for a long time wasn’t he? That’s why he went back home to die, right?”

Then I got really upset and started having a coughing fit (asthma) to wake up with a coughing fit.

You see, our parish Priest really went on Holidays back to his home country The Philippines.

Like, I stated dreams can be just dreams but sometimes I think God communicates or gives us signs in dreams I’m not too sure if our parish Priest is sick or not but

I have been discerning a religious vocation with the Discalced Carmelite Nuns but at times I have my doubts and questions.

Am I really called?

Am I called to that specific Discalced Carmelite? or even order?

I want to Pray and help my parish Priest but not just him alone all Priests and help save souls.

Usually when I interpret my own dreams as symbolic it has helped me to figure out what they mean- in my dreams the parish priest tends to stand for my spirituality as a whole. Perhaps a similar approach might help you?
 
Looks like you had your own little ‘Don Bosco’ moment :o

I suggest reading the dreams of St. Bosco. His were full of symbolism, and a good majority of them did come to pass. I hope the following link helps bosconet.aust.com/DBD.html

I don’t know if this means anything but in my dream I was sitting in a different area than I normally do. The lady I spoke to had her hair up in a bun and was wearing a red suit dress. <–I’ve never seen this lady before.

Previous to this dream I had another dream where I Confessed all my sins to the parish Priest. I really opened up to him and was crying but he really helped me out and comforted me.

As you may or may not know I have been having some difficulties and confusion on the Sacrament of Reconcilation and I have to admit I still do.

I’ve never actually Confessed my sins to our parish Priest yet and as a matter of fact Divine Mercy Sunday was the first time in years I went to Confession and actually the first time I ever remember going in our Parish.

But, the dream I had was a “wake up call” in rediscovering the Sacrament of Confession.

Like I stated before, dreams can be just dreams.

I do agree that dreams are usually, just dreams that have no real meaning. But, when they make a profound impact on us, like this one seems to have had on you, then there may very well be a hidden message in them. God has often used dreams to communicate with people as a subtle way to deliver a message, without making a direct contact like in a vision.

Was the ‘different area’ that you were sitting in near the confessional, where people would normally sit to wait for their turn, in your dream? If it was, then perhaps God is trying to tell you that without taking advantage of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance), your Parish Priest really is dead to you, because you are not taking advantage of the power of God’s Reconciliation that the Priest uses to help guide you to overcome your sins? Reconciliation is meant to help us to see what we do to offend God, every day, so we can learn how to avoid those things. That’s how we become more perfect and draw closer to God. Maybe the lady in red is meant to remind you of this: “Isaias 1:[16] Wash yourselves, be clean, take away the evil of your devices from my eyes: cease to do perversely, [17] Learn to do well: seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge for the fatherless, defend the widow. [18] And then come, and accuse me, saith the Lord: if your sins be as scarlet, they shall be made as white as snow: and if they be red as crimson, they shall be white as wool.”

Maybe God wants you to really search your soul and think about all of your sins to make a really good confession. Sometimes, we tend to think that we really don’t sin very much and don’t think we need to go to Confession, but none of us are perfect. Confession helps us to get there, faster. Perhaps there is a more serious sin that you’ve forgotten or been afraid to confess? We’re all sinners. When we fail to recognize our own sins, it might help us to go to confession just to jog our own memories. We can always get better by taking advantage of confession. There’s nothing that feels as good as receiving Absolution after making a really good confession. :getholy: Well, except for when we receive Communion, afterwards. :heaven:

Yes, as a matter of fact the opposite side was near the Confessional but I wanted to point out I had two different dreams of our parish Priest.

The first going to the Sacrament of Reconcilation

The second when I read in the Church bulletin that he died.

The only time I see people lining up for Confession is during Easter time or Divine Mercy Sunday so I don’t really see anyone lining up for Confession any other times.

Our Parish did a Church Survey and one of the concerns was actually the Sacrament of Reconciliation and that person suggested that our parish Priest set a certain time and date for Confession or at least come to Mass a bit earlier.

Hmm, Isaias is a good analogy for the lady in red but I was also thinking the red could represent the Precious blood of Jesus (for the month of July).

Yes, I do agree that God searches the soul but for me it’s not that I don’t think I sin very little but I forget to tell the Priest some of my sins than I feel guilty and I doubt my Confession was any good.

However, while reading a booklet on Confession it states that all sins will be forgiven even the ones we forget to say but next time we see the Priest to mention the sins we have forgotten to say. I also know that satan is the one who wants me to doubt and that once we confess our sins God “deletes” our sins from His files.

I think I am very worthless sinner who doesn’t deserve God’s love yet when I see a Crucifix or I spend time with Him at Eucharistic Adoration I am absolutely amazed how much He loves me.

Doesn’t mean he will die necessarily.

Could mean his faith will die and he is spiritually sick and need ministering to.

I can’t speak for others, but if I wanted answers about a current situation in my life, comments or answers given years later probably wouldn’t seem very relevant. 🤷

It might be different on other threads I’ve started, such as “Top 10 Qualities You Look for in a Wife.” That’s more curiosity, and others may find it interesting even years later.

You seem to have done a search for threads on dreams, and found threads that not only have been inactive for years, but have also been about a specific dream. The person who originally started the thread probably isn’t still looking for answers and may not even be active on CAF any longer.

If you have an interest in dreams and just want to discuss them – specifically or in general – you might consider starting a thread in the Back Fence forum.

Yes, the year is 2011 that is a pretty old post/thread so I have to agree with nuntym and Gertabelle on this one.

To answer your questions BlueKnight, I never really thought or assumed he was going to die. However, since then he has left the priesthood.

Now, like Gertabelle suggested if you would like to ask a question or start a topic on dreams why not start your own thread
