Let me begin by saying hello. I was married in the catholic church 10 years ago My wife and I have had 5 of our own children and currently do foster care and are going to be adopting 2 girls. so a total of 7 kiddos. Along our marriage I have not been that involved in the church. But my wife and I have done nfp.( sort-of )and I was not a fan. so right before our 5th child was born which he was a NFP. suprise, I had a Vasectomy, knowing it was against the church, and my wifes better judgement. I had no Idea it was a mortal sin I thought all sins were just sins. I have vowed to myself. I would be a better husband and father and make christ part of our life. today was the first day at Mass. and the homily was about the body and how it belongs to god. Very eye opening. ** Now that I have had the vesectomy , **Can this ever be resolved between myself and god, the church, or our marriage. ****

Hi,

All you have to do is go to Confession. Once you have been absolved of this sin, the Lord will have forgiven you. You do not have to refrain from marital relations and you do not have to attempt to have the operation reversed. You also will not be able to father anymore children. It seemed like the thing you really wanted, but now you may feel somewhat of a loss.
