Ok so this is a dream that I had last night and it had all to do with chruch!!

Ok so I went to waterloo (a city in ontario) to see a friend and all my other friends from highschool were there. Most of them are like me, goth’s, punks etc. but a few practice wicca, the majority were athiests and my one friend, K, is a jehovah’s witness, but in my dream, they were all catholics, supposedly, but i knew they weren’t. So we were partying it up when i saw this cross in the sky and i said “K you have to go” and she said “oh ya” and began to run away. We chased her and she ended up at this church. She had to go to jail their, and there were cells in the basement. She pointed out her window and said “I keep mine extra clean”, the priest walks out dressed like a surfer, and took our pictures and told K thankyou for keeping the window clean. Then the preist, started saying the mass, but it wasn’t, he was just preaching the bas things about the world, like how war was good, and that abortion was good, etc. Then it was time for the eucharist.
The eucharist was on a long table (with a white tablecloth) and their were beer cups on the table, each beer cup was filled with red wine and there was a wafer floating on top. I said to myself, this is wrong, but no one heard me. Then all these lights started flashing saying “Bobbing for Jesus”. They mad a game out of the eucharist!! Everyone sat down except me in and my fiance and the preist said “aren’t you joining” and I declined. Then he said “wow, you must be some strong pentacostal” and I said “no, I’m not at all”. My fiance then told him “she was and atheist and now she wants to be catholic”. The whole time I was thinking, Jess, my fiance, dont give in to temptation, you know what you believe. (He’s a pentacostal, and doesn’t believe that people should take the eucharist because you will only sin again and it’s like lyign to Jesus). The whole time I was thinking that the whole thing was wrong and that I would rather jess not believe in taking the eucharist than take it this way. But then he did and I kept screaming, “NOOO, you’re sinning, you’re gonna go to hell, and I’ll be alone, and you won’t be saved, and you’re sinning” over and over again until I was woken up by the sound of a hammer.

Sorry that was long, I just don’t understand what that is all about. I’ve never had a dream with so much religios imagery, especially not showin gmy beliefs!! Any suggestions?

Raphaela, dreams generally originate with our subconcious as it deals with experiences in our lives. Often we do not remember them.

God and the evil one can influence our dreams.

To better understand the dream, you need to consider what you currently believe and how you live your faith. Consider experiences where were you felt people were not living up to their faith (this seem to be one of the core concepts in this dream).

I am going to ask a number of question for you to answer yourself. You do not need to post the answers to them here. Some of them may be totally off the mark so just ignore them. Please do not take offense at any question.

Are you satisfied with your faith where it is now?

Are you satisfied with your fiance’s faith?

Would you want your children, when you have them, to have a similiar faith to where you both are now?

Do you feel a call to greater holiness?

Are you disturbed by Christians who do not live their faith?

Have you in the past considered religion a prison which people get caught into?

Do you believe in the Real Presence of the Eucharist?

Do you desire to receive Jesus in the Eucharist in a holy and sacramental manner?

Are you happy in your current life?

Are you fulfilled or do you feel something is missing?

Do you consider the people you associate with good people?

Do you take your faith seriously is or is it just a game?

What would you like your faith life to be like?

Do you need help getting your faith to where you want it to be?

God bless you and may He grant you the insight you need.

Feel free to email me (stobie@sprynet.com), if you want to move to a more private discussion.

It sounds like there were too many “ridiculous” elements in the dream for it to have been a vision of any kind. The part about a Jehovah’s Witness keeping the windows of her cell clean in the Church basement? It just sounds like random neurons firing in your brain. But as far as how much religious imagery there was in the dream, maybe you’re simply more conscious of your faith and the way it should be practiced. A little while after I joined the forums, I had this crazy dream about our music director donning a cassock and stole and hijacking the Mass! It was crazy, but I’m pretty sure it was just cause I had been discussing liturgical abuses for a good portion of the day online. But if you’re really wondering if this is some sort of message, pray to God for understanding. If He wants you to know something, He’ll make sure you do.

I’m gonna post my answers to those questions because i think i may need some directional help, so here they are.
Are you satisfied with your faith where it is now?
No
Are you satisfied with your fiance’s faith?
Yes, he’s got a wonderful faith life

I feel a call to be a better christian, but nothign like a nun or anything
Are you disturbed by Christians who do not live their faith?
yes, some are appalling
Have you in the past considered religion a prison which people get caught into?
I always considered organized religion a bad thing until recently
Do you believe in the Real Presence of the Eucharist?
Most of the time i do, then sometimes I start thinking of the possibilities of that, then the skeptic in me…you get the point
Do you desire to receive Jesus in the Eucharist in a holy and sacramental manner?
I do, but sometimes i feel that i’m not worthy of such a gift, that i will just waste what is given to me
Are you happy in your current life?
Very!
Are you fulfilled or do you feel something is missing?
Oh i know, I could be more spiritual, i want to love God but sometimes i feel like he’s not even there

Do you need help getting your faith to where you want it to be?
Tons, I admit it, I need tons of help

Ok those are my answers. I hope that you can help me Stobie, that would be great. thanks for your replies!!

I interpret dreams, and I think I have an answer:

You ate too much before you went to bed.

Sometimes when I eat mexican food, I have strange dreams. Is this the case?

I’d have to stand on the side of Gomer Tree as far as saying that you ate too much before going to bed. Vivid dreams are usually caused by eating before bed or being over-tired.
However, as Catholic-Christians we can look at dreams with a different light than science. I had a really vivid dream once about being ordained a priest. It felt so real! I even woke up and wondered where I was. It was odd.
My spiritual director told me not to forget that dream. I haven’t. I think I would be a fool to dwell on it also. My suggestion to you is this: don’t forget the dream, but don’t worry about it either. It could have been a number of things, so just pray for peace fromt he Holy Spirit, and continue with life as normal.
God Bless,

Justn

Ok, it is fairly obvious that your dream is reflecting your unhappiness with your current faith life and that you want it to be better.

You are feeling called to live holier (and you do not need to be a nun to be holy. There are many holy people out there living holy lives just where they are.)

Generately we want for our children, what we want for ourselves. If you want a solid Catholic faith life, you can have one.

Do you know a good Catholic priest in your area who is loyal to the magisterium (obeys all the teachings of the church)? You need to go to him and ask him to help you to become a full practicing Catholic (again, I think, because I would guess that you were raised Catholic).

If you do not know of one, call the local diocese and ask for them to recommend a good priest loyal to the magisterium to help you return (or become, if my earlier guess was wrong) to being a practicing Catholic.
Do you believe in the Real Presence of the Eucharist?
Most of the time i do, then sometimes I start thinking of the possibilities of that, then the skeptic in me…you get the point

No one is worthy is receive the Eucharist. It is a gift of love from Jesus to each of us to help transform us to being closer to Him. Catholics who are in grave sin are asked not to receive until after they have went to a sacramental Confession repenting from the wrong that they have done. Non-catholics are not to recieve as they are not in full communion with the church and may not even believe in the real presence.

to be continued in part II.

I try to live my faith constantly and grow always in love of God and neighbor. This is not easy, but God helps in this. Ask God to help you grow in your faith life and He will. I guarantee it (It may not be easy but you will grow if you persist.)

God desires a deep and intimate relationship with everyone. Your soul created by God longs to one with God and is urging you to grow closer to him.

Are there teachings of the church that you find difficult to believe or follow? (see the Catechism of the Catholic Church if you are unsure of these. URL: vatican.va/archive/ccc/index.htm in six different languages. Personally you should get a copy yourself. It is a great reference on what Catholics believe and how they should live.)

If there are, do you understand what the Church teaches on them and why?

How does you fiance feel about the Catholic Church? Does he have any doctrinal issues with the Church? How would he feel if you want to raise your children Catholic? Talk to him openly about how you feel. It is much easier to talk about now (and work through) then after you are married.

I read in the Bible a long time ago to pay no attention to dreams unless they come from God, problem is some of mine come true.

Does your dream originate from God ? I don’t know, but they can be weird !!!

Stobie, To answer your question, I was raised atheist, with a little catholic influence from a late family member when i was younger. I believe i was baptised catholic but was adopted and have no proof of such.

As for marriage and children, my fiance, well, he’s ok with the catholic church, but he doesn’t feel that you need to go to church to worship God, though he said when i want to go to church, he’d take me, every week if i wanted. He also thinks that children do very well in a faithful family. He used to go to a church as a child, and to a daily bible group. His family left the (pentacostal) church they attended because the pastor was an awful man, and they never returned after. He stopped going to the bible readings after the leader passed away (he always talks about what an amazing influence this woman had on his life, and I’m sure he wants the same for his children). Though I haven’t mentioned raising children catholic because i am yet to be fully catholic myself. He would be fine with it, but his dad might not. He’s anti-catholic, and that is where my fiance gets his misconceptions of the church, which I correct whenever i have the right answers. We’ve discussed much of these things, and he’s very happy that i am working my way towards God, much more happier than when I wasn’t, i can tell you that!!
Thank you for all your advice!! Oh and btw, i plan on starting to go to mass once my work schedule changes in 2 weeks, i took sundays off!! So i am on my way, i just need help sometimes!

Good. Find a good priest and get things going with him as well.
Thank you for all your advice!!
You are very welcome.

God is very good. Pray to him often.

God bless.

Ignore dreams. they are usually meaningless. Just a mixture of emotions, past memories and feelings. There are very rare cases where they are from God, messages delivered to future saints.

.

Most dreams are just the brain saying: Testing, 1, 2, 3, testing! 😃

My mother is a retired teacher. She used to tell her students: I’ll listen to anything except dreams & what you saw on tv.
