So sorry for your loss Joe! :hug1: She was a very pretty dog!!!

Ever thought about going to a shelter and getting a new buddy?? After you’ve had a dog for so long, I bet it seems very quiet and lonely without one! Prayers for you in this difficult time. :gopray:

i feel your pain.
we just put my beloved dog, Hannah, to sleep 2 weeks ago. she was only 9 but very very sick. i miss her so and feel such a loss - i loved her soooo much 😦

but God brings you comfort and in time you’ll heal

It has been 2 years since I lost my Roddy MacDuff…and I still miss him. I even have a new Scotty, one of his ‘brothers’, that I love dearly but I really miss the little guy. My heart goes out to you and I am so glad you had Maddie in your life!

Last saturday the day before i went on vacation i had to put down my best buddy down. Her name was maddie a 16 year old lab-shepherd mix…and finally arthritis and tumors got her. I walk in my backyard and feel such loss…she was there for me when my wife passed away 4 years ago and she was there on many happy occasions too. She loved to play ball and never growled at anyone in 16 years i really do miss her …just had to get it out thanks…Joe:(
Rest in peace, Maddie. Joe, may St. Francis pray for you and God grant you comfort.

So sorry Joe for this loss. I too am an animal lover and know the heartache of losing such a companion. I don’t know what I will do when our current dog dies:(.

My daughter and I stopped by the local no-kill shelter’s adopt-a-thon outside Wal-Mart today. They had some really cute dogs needing homes! They were gone by the time I got my husband to go over there, he is dead set against us getting a dog right now but, he is sort of right, we have three cats, a dog and two guinea pigs right now.

I look forward to seeing a picture of your beloved pet.

I just wanted to add my condolences to Joe. I know how hard it can be to lose a beloved pet, Joe. Hang in there–the pain does lessen with time. Know that your beloved Maddie is at peace.

We’ve lost 5 cats over the years and each one was a wrench when s/he died. One was quite special, though. His name was Kirby and he was only 3 years old. We didn’t know he had an enlarged heart. We had to have him put down due to a painful, disabling condition that was a side effect. I thought I’d never get over the pain–he was so dear to me–such a loving boy and never any problem with behavior.

But, we went right out and adopted another kitten in honor of Kirby and to keep a lively presence in our home. We currently have 4 cats although according to city ordinances we’re only supposed to have 3. They’re all our “boys” who we love very much, each for his own personality. If we lost one at this point we wouldn’t “replace” him, although we too are sorely tempted, like you Brenda, when we see cats and kittens up for adoption at our local pet stores. I see those sweet little kittens and those beautiful cats and I just melt. I wish I could take them all home with me! 😊

I know how hard it is to lose a beloved friend. I was forced to make that decision last year when I had to put my 16 1/2 year old cat Davey down. Your Maddie was so beautiful and she will live forever in your heart. ❤️

It’s odd you mention Maddie not wanting to go when you were gone. (Have a wonderful pilgrimage and please remember us on CAF in your prayers in Fatima and Lourdes). One of my cats was dying but waited until morning and I was up to tell her it was all right for her to go to sleep now. She gave me a look of love and gratitude and died then and there. So, I can believe your Maddie knowing her time had come. And when you get another dog it will be in memory of her and in thankfulness for the good she brought into your life, lived again, so to speak, in another who needs your love and care. God bless. :console:
