I hate my bosses!

I have two bosses a man and a woman and I feel like I really hate them or maybe I hate what they do and how they are, more so how they treat me. I cannot stand to be in their company, they pile more work on me than others and then have a go at me for not completing all of it whereas other staff get little to do and get praised.

I’m not interested in praise I just want to be left alone to do my job. I’m sick of the sly comments and the constant digs. They make me so angry and when I get home I’m completely fed up.

I don’t want any harm to come to them but I wish they would win the lottery and leave. I don’t have the strength to tolerate them anymore.

😞

Unless you are getting paid a lot of money that you can’t get elsewhere, quitting has a lot of merit.

I’d try to look for another job. A person spends a third of their life at work. They might as well like what they are doing.

It can be hard to look when you are feeling down. Try to tackle a little bit of the job search each day. Pray. God may open up a door that you have never considered. Pay attention to Him.

Interesting. I had never really took the “no man can serve two masters; he’ll love one and hate the other” very seriously… until I had two bosses. And then I totally understood and agreed 110% with the sentiment.

But that’s significant that you have such a visceral reaction to both of your bosses.

If you’re employed by a large entity, could you do a lateral transfer to a different department?

If you’re employed by a smaller entity, could you go do similar work for a competitor?

at one point I had 4 bosses : a nervous breakdown was imminent.

Pray for your bosses. These prayers will help you and them a lot.

And pray for a new job - and start looking

I’d caution you on using the word hate. I was always taught that the word (according to the Bible) meant you wished they were dead. I’ve had my share of awful bosses and ultimately had to decide what was best for me. My sister and nephew throw the word hate around quite easily, and it bothers me.

She wishes that they would win the lottery! I wish she would hate me, too.

I misread and thought she wanted to win the lottery and leave! That sounds even better. But you gotta play to win, or so they say.

wait , is it possible to just pray that bosses immediately die and go to Heaven, because that seems like a win / win situation.

Kinda sarcastic, but not really.

Write down what you do per day or week and how long each task takes you. Contacts needed, searching for information, writing, constructing, evaluating simply everything. You need to see how much time you spend on each task in order to be able to work quick and correct. Your bosses also need to see if you are given to many tasks for the number of hours you work and get paid for.

When you get a new task, look at it and tell the boss that you estimate that it will take X hours and you will have it finished after ABCDEF which you have already been given. If the boss says that this is high priority then ask him/her which task that can wait. If they then complain about the task that was put on wait you reply that it was their decision as there was one with higher priority that he/she told you to do instead.

I have had bosses where workers cried when the boss left for another job or retired because they were really good bosses and would be highly missed. Other times I have come back to work on Monday morning and taken the really expensive bottles that say “Pooof” when they are opened to the recycling. (The boss hadn’t been invited to those parties for understandable reasons.)

There has been a tremendous escalation in verbal violence … what used to be “disagreement” has now been escalated to “hate” … and they mean totally different things.

That’s certainly a new twist on loving your enemies. 🙂
May I ask which area do you live in and is there a reason why your bosses treat you the way they do?

Is the company large enough that there is a Human Resources office? Do you have co-workers who realize that you are being treated
unfairly, who could be your allies? Is it obvious to others that you are getting more work piled on you? When people have difficulties in the workplace, it’s always a good idea to document, document, document.

My female boss elevates women over men purely out of gender, she makes a lot of references about this.

One explanation is I am the only Catholic and the other staff are protestant, mainly non-denominational as are the bosses. One man gets away with sheer murder as he also works as a pastor in a non-denominational church and they don’t want to tread on his toes so he can come in late as much as he wants and change shifts to suit him.

One big problem is when my boss tells me to do something different to what the medical professionals have told us to do or not do (I work in care). It puts you in a very difficult position.

I think it maybe time to find another job. You are clearly (from what you have written) unhappy with where you are.

You didn’t answer one of the other poster’s questions. Why don’t you look for another job?
