I hate my house

It’s like this proverbial burden hanging around my neck all the time. If you read my earlier posts you know first it was the roach infestation, then the termites, pill bugs and now tiny black bugs have taken over my bathroom and kitchen. I can’t take a shower without them showing up to fill the bathtub. I’ve vacumed and swept the entire house dailly, I keep drains covered and poured down bleach and draino, I’ve put boric acid in all nooks and crevices and along all floor boards. I wipe up all water. Only leave my cats food and water out when I feed them. I’m as clean as I can be. I work two jobs and I’m exhausted. My night job insisted that we take on extra shifts this week or they would give us points and treat it as an absense (1 absense and your fired) I can’t be any cleaner than I already am and still the things won’t go away. I wish I could give this house back I hate it. I didn’t even go into the half acre yard. I’ve spent all my time recently fighting the bugs inside. I had a break in a couple weeks ago and I’m always afraid to come home and find my house broken into and my cats gone. They can have the whole place I don’t care I just don’t want to lose my cats or for them to get hurt. This house thing as been a total nightmare. I plan to sell it as soon as I can feasibly sell it. I should have bought a condo instead I think. I assume the soonest I can sell it is two years from now maybe next year if I’m still sane then. Please don’t suggest a dog or a security system. I can’t afford either at this point. WHAT EVER YOU DO DON"T BUY A SLAB!

It sounds like you treated the inside of the house, so you might have to treat the outside in the yard. Have pest control spray the yard and around the boundaries around the house. I am sorry you are going thru this. 😦

I’m so sorry for the pain and frustration you are feeling.

I pray that you find a way to be at peace within your home while waiting to sell your home.

I pray that you find peace despite feeling over run by bugs. May you feel at peace after the thieves entered your home.

May you feel at peace about the safety of your cats. May St. Francis protect them.

May you feel peace in your body about your house in place of feeling the hate that disrupts your body.

I pray you find a way to experience happiness within your home while waiting to sell it.

Maybe having a Home Enthronement to the Sacred Heart of Jesus would bring you peace. A priest will bless your home during the Enthronement. The Enthronement is a way to make Jesus the King of your home (no matter where your home is…no matter if you move). Ask at your parish or diocese if there is a family or priest who promotes the Enthronement and will share in your Enthronement day with you.

The center of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is the Enthronement of the image of the Sacred Heart in the home. By the Enthronement of the Sacred Heart, we link the tabernacle of our parish church to our home, inviting our Lord to be our constant and most intimate companion. The Enthronement is a way of life. It means that Christ is King of our hearts, and we desire Him to be present with us always.

I would strongly suggest calling an exterminator at your very earliest opportunity for both the inside and, especially, the outside.

You may laugh but my friend who lives in a major city has chickens in her backyard and the bug population has been wiped out! I live in the country and notice that when I had chickens they picked every tree, bush, rock, object free of bugs.

I live in a slab house now as a renter and it is just too close to the ground. Spiders and others are plentiful! I guess I need chickens again too.

Vote me in on the diatomaceous earth stuff. I’ve heard good things.

It may be illegal to have chickens in your yard in the city. You may have to check your local city ordinances on that. But if they say you can have them, then go for it.

Yep already done it was the exterminators who found the termites and flushed the roaches out. I signed a year contract with them so they have to spray as many times as needed without additional fees. They never show up for followup calls though. Twice I’ve called them to respray and twice they’ve been a no show.

I live in St. Louis city and it’s illegal to have any livestock animal. I thought about a goat for the lawn but not way it’s allowed. 😦

For today, Luvz, what can you do to enjoy your life while living in this home?

You can still battle the bugs, without letting them control your sanity. I see from your profile that you love the outdoors. With this I assume you don’t have a problem (fear) with bugs, as long as they are not in your home. So, how can you mentally triumph over their invasion?

Don’t let the nightmare of the bugs and thieves rob you of peace.

What is keeping you from enjoying your half acre yard?

You are keeping your home clean and clutter free.

Enjoy the beauty of your home. Enjoy the special touches that make it YOUR home. Enjoy the meals you prepare in the kitchen. Enjoy sitting at the table to taste the wonderful food you prepared. Enjoy the feel of your futon, your blanket, and pillow. Enjoy the home you share with your cats.

All the while, you can be preparing to sell. Do not let the home rob you of enjoyment and peace.

Thank you. I hope it all gets better some day but I’m not seeing any happy future here. I will never buy another slab that much is certain. I think there must be cracks in the foundation letting all these bugs in somewhere I can’t see. It not possible to be any cleaner than I am already. I think the 14 hour work days are wearing me down too but I have no choice my bills demand it. I got spoiled with no bugs in my apartment. If I’d known that slabs were more prone to infestations I would never have bought one.

Why would a slab be worse for pests than a basement or a crawl space?

How did the break-in occur and what was missing?

Do your neighbors have similar problems?

Have you talked to the previous owners? They may have insight.

Yes I know about it. I did try it outside but it has to be dry and we’ve had a lot of rain constantly. I’m already using boric acid inside which does the same thing and works the same way.
Boric acid is illegal in England, once there, I will have to find a substitute for it.

To the OP: slabs are the norm where I live and they are no buggier then the so called conventional foundation. I have lived where ants and spiders were a problem and also where no bug dare set a leg. The exterminator actually needs to treat all the openings to the house. And you probably need to use something nastier in terms of pesticide. One time I tried to lure ants out into the open (sugar water) and spray them. Heh heh. Cheer up at least you don’t have skunks living in your crawl space or my least personal favorite–rats. Fourteen hour workdays are too long.

I’m sure 14 hour work days make the whole experience with the bugs, the no-show exterminator, and the break-in… all feel even worse.

Since you have to work this schedule and the bugs aren’t going away today…make sure you do for yourself what is in your control.

Eat well, get in the most hours of sleep possible with that work schedule, drink plenty of water, find a way to enjoy each day, exercise - even if its just a quick walk, and take some time to enjoy nature - even it is simply enjoying nature during your walk. Practice deep breathing and relaxing your mind and body.

One day, you’ll be living bug free again. Imagine what that will feel like and try to replace negative feelings with that one!

I am so terribly sorry for all this frustration. St Mawes had to drive out snakes and vermin from a monestary. Perhaps praying for his intercession

Well I found out my toilet is leaking with may be part of the cause for all these bugs. I’ve also noticed other water stains on the floor and suspect leaking from the tub as well and am testing that out currently. I have a plumber coming to check and a friend as well. Hopefully I can get this resolved.

Yeah, bugs are looking for water.
