I hate my house

Yes I know about it. I did try it outside but it has to be dry and we’ve had a lot of rain constantly. I’m already using boric acid inside which does the same thing and works the same way.
Yes, I did have success with boric acid. I will pray for you; it’s so depressing when what should be your refuge, your home, makes you feel upset and anxious rather than relaxed and able to kick back and unwind. 😦

I lived on a slab for 19 years and never had bugs. Mice got in once by burrowing a hole through the slab, but we figured that out and plugged it and no more mice.
When I bought a large home with a basement I saw a lot more spiders and such. Had a fridge that was leaking (and I didn’t know it) and it never drew bugs and it leaked badly. Also had a commode in the basement bath that leaked and it never drew bugs.
Had a squirrel in the basement once that scared the heck out of me.

It sounds to me like the bug problem has been there for a while and the bugs are pretty well entrenched in the house and it’s going to take longer to get rid of them.

I know how frightening and intrusive a break in can be. But it does seem to happen to many of us at one time or another. Good deadbolts can make a huge difference and make sure you window locks are good ones. You can always get some pieces of wood cut to fit into the sashing of your windows so that the windows don’t open. Also if you have a sliding door, that might help there too. Get some of those timers for your lights, so the lights are on if you come home in the dark or leave in the dark. I used to leave the TV on when I left too, made it sound like someone was home. If you get packages, you might want to let the UPS or Fedex or USPS delivery person know to not leave them or to leave them out of sight so it doesn’t look like you aren’t home.
Make sure to keep curtains and shades closed at night and some days close them and some days leave them open when you are home so you confuse anyone looking at your house.
There are a lot of inexpensive things you can do to deter burglers and such.
Getting to know your neighbors can be a big help as well, then they will maybe help you keep an eye out for odd things going on at your house. 🙂

What was it about the house that made you decide to put a bid in on it, there must of been something you liked???

Well I had a friend check on the toilet issue. I think there may be a drain leak. I’ve got flooring buckling up in the hallway and kitchen now as well as grout in the bathroom cracking. The bathroom and kitchen just started recently…I moved in 3 weeks ago and of course started using the plumbing. I had a mechanical inspection done but nothing was mentioned about the floor execpt that some water got into the hallway at one time but the roof was not and will all the rain we’ve had I can tell you for sure it doesn’t leak. All the problems see to be coming from underneather the floor. I’m afraid it’s a lateral sewer leak. In any case I have a plumber coming on Tuesday to give me a opinion. All the tiles in the bathroom are loose and the pergo floors right out side the bathroom are buckling was well as the kitchen floor by the drain. It only makes sense the water leakage would draw all these bugs. I keep boric acid in the tub as they like to come up the drain no matter how much bleach or vinegar I poor down. This whole house thing has turned into a nightmare. It looks like I’ll have to pursue action against the house inspector but I can’t do that till I know what exactly the problem is.

I don’t know anything to say, except I am sorry you have run into so many problems.

When you feel tense and upset, try to think of a way to handle all this unexpected, unwanted, negative feelings that can affect your whole body, so you mind and body can remain at peace while you handle the situations.

Take time to enjoy the good in the day.

I had a plumber check the plumbing system. The good news is that he could find no major issues other than the toilet. That was the first good news with this house at all. He said his experience told him the floors were cracking and shrinking due to all the humidity we’ve had, poor installation and likely on going humidity and climate changes within the house as it was vacant a year and now someone is living there with the ac on all the time. Bug are still a major issue so far just in the bathroom with those water bugs everywhere yuk. Outside around the house there seem to be a lot of roaches too so I’ve lined the parimater with boric acid in hopes of not having to walk over them to get into the house. I’ve never had to step on roaches just to get to my house before. I’m guessing this is because I live 3 blocks from a river. I keep my yard around the house clean and cleared all the vegetation around the foundation so it not from brush around the house or for lack of yard maintenence. The plumbing is set to fix the toilet and then I’ll have them spray again…no point in have the bathroom sprayed is the water is still there the bugs will just come back. Boric acid doesn’t seem to bother these critters is all over the bathroom and they still come in ever increasing numbers. I hope to hang in there for at least a year and then sell. This whole house thing is just too much for me. I should have bought a condo but loans on affordable condos are hard to come by. I don’t see my sanity lasting more than a year and even a year is pushing it. There is a drain issue but it just needs to be lowered $850 for that…it’s gonna have to wait. The termite treatement hit me hard.

I would recommend a different exterminator if the first one isn’t getting the job done. Ask around; some really are better than others, at least in my experience.

Sorry to hear about all your problems with the house.
