I hate when non-Christians wear religious jewelry

I cannot stand it when non-Christians wear Christian religious jewelry. Examples would be crosses, rosaries, crucifixes, ect. I think it is sacreligious and a sin. I think it is a sin because they are using holy items (or items representing something holy) and using it for other reasons.

Sadly though this trend is becoming much more popular. I estimate that almost half of the people who wear Christian jewelry are heathens.

Seriously, in these rap videos we have all these thugs jumping around with big silver crosses. And in public we can obviously tell that some people with crosses/crucifixes are not Christians but are just wearing them because its “in style”.

I find it all disgusting.
 
Agreed 100%. This is something I notice everytime I’m at work, I doubt Jesus likes being reduced to little more than a fashion accessory.
 
You could always ask them about it and slip in what it really means in a conversation. Who knows, that might actually point them in the right direction. Maybe 95% of the time they won’t listen, but there’s always the 5% that might.
 
Then again, quite a few people who do this actually do think they are Christian. Ever try to watch the MTV Music Video Awards? I don’t recommend it, but you will find that half the artists who where just minutes ago rapping about fornication, drugs, and violence pause to thank Jesus who made it all possible… Go figure…
 
I’ve never seen a non-Christian wearing a crucifix (don’t watch Madonna videos) but I have definitally seen non-Christians wearing crosses because they just liked the way it looked and yeah, it does tick me off.

Just abuot as badly as when non-Christians celebrate holidays that are Christian, mainly Christmas but also Easter. I don’t celebrate Ramadaan (did I spell that right?) or Hanukkah (um…did I spell that right too? Sorry!) why do they celebrate Christmas?

Because it’s largely seen as a civic holiday with very little religious connotation. I think I’ve heard it referred to as Festivus for the rest of us (Seinfeld, I think). I mean, top billing is given to Santa, who may be based on a Saint but owes far more to Nash and Clement Moore than to history. Then there’s the reindeer (Clement Moore again) and Rudolph (Hollywood) and Frosty (Hollywood) and …

From what I understand, Christianity borrowed the day of Christmas (Jesus was likely not born in December due to the sheep being in the field if I’ve read correctly) from the pagans in order to make the day holy so if non-Christians want to borrow it back, I don’t know that there’s room for complaint.

Easter? Other than the egg hunts, which are good fun for everyone, I’ve not noticed too many non-Christians celebrating it (well other than some Pagans who may worship the goddess Easter) in any real way.

I’ve definitely known Christians to have a Seder and celebrate Passover.

Don’t worry about spelling Hanukkah right, it’s easy to spell in Hebrew but when you need to transliterate that’s where the differences creep in. Same with Ramadan.
 
The worst is when it’s the ONLY thing they’re wearing, KWIM?

Its better than NOT thanking Him, right?
 
I don’t mind if they thank Jesus. Thats fine.

I just don’t want them wearing holy items. Its abomination.
