Hey everyone. I have a bad cold. It started last Friday or Saturday. Anyway, I went to the doctor and was told I didn’t have an infection on Monday but I don’t really believe that. I have had sinus pressure (despite taking a Zyrtec every day which I have to take every day of the year due to bad allergies), sore throat, ear aches, general body aches and malaise, plus a head ache. When I was at the doctor, I almost had a low grade fever or possibly did. The temperature was 98.9 and I don’t recall it ever going above 98.6 before when I was healthy. I checked it just a few minutes ago and it was normal at 98.2. However, I still don’t feel good. My left ear and throat hurts when I swallow and I just feel really bad overall. I just took a Tramadol to ease the body pain and headaches. As far as I know, I can’t take over the counter cold medicine because it might interact with my anti-depressant and possibly even my anxiety medicine. One of my anxiety medications includes a blood pressure pill and I have heard that over the counter cold medicines can interact badly with those. So basically what I am doing now is I am using my Advair (preventative asthma inhaler) twice a day which doesn’t seem to be helping much, using my rescue inhaler when I need it, using my nebulizer when I need it, taking my prescription Naproxen twice a day (for arthritis), taking my Tramadol when I need it, and taking my Zyrtec every day in the morning. Unfortunately, I am still suffering. I get so tired of being sick during allergy season. It seems like every time allergy season turns around, I end up with an infection and sometimes the infection is quite severe. Anyway, please pray for me.

I went to my priest this morning and received the Anointing of the Sick. I also went to Confession and Mass this morning. I hope that the graces I received will at least help me spiritually through this illness if not physically.

***Praying for your healing Holly ! :gopray:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Thanks James. I actually just talked to a nurse with my Medicaid line and they urged me to go to the emergency room. Well, no one around here will take me and I don’t want to call an ambulance. So I just took four puffs off my inhaler like they instructed me to do and am hoping it will help my breathing. Other than that, the pain meds are not yet working but I am sure they will soon. Thanks again!

My sympathies, Holly! I am also battling a cold this week, and I don’t know what I’d do without over the counter cold medicine to combat it. You must be absolutely miserable - I will keep you in my prayers!

Holly - I understand! I’m one of those people who seems to have more severe symptoms with colds than ordinary folk. Then you worry and the anxiety only make it worse. I’ll be praying for you today. Try to rest and nap if you can. The medical folks don’t really consider it a fever unless it is over 100 degrees. Remember all those nasty symptoms (except your asthma kicking in) are really just your body doing its work to fight off the viral infection.

Hey everyone. I have a bad cold.
I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on radio 😛
  1. Drink LOTS of fluids. This will help to get what you have IN you that needs to be OUT of you more easily. Coffee, hot tea, (although those are diuretics, they are fluids) water, fruit juices. Lots of fluids
  2. Blow your nose. Some people want to avoid blowing their nose. Please, get the stuff that you need out of you OUT. If you take in lots of liquids, it shouldn’t be a problem
  3. Put used tissues in a PLASTIC bag. Or something else non-permeable, if you are bio-conscious. Sometimes, I’ll just keep a small bag from the market, put the tissues inside, and when done, fold it over until the next one. If you put the tissues in a wastebasket with no bag, or if you put it in a paper bag, you run the risk of others getting what you have.
  4. WASH YOUR HANDS. Use water (hot to warm) and soap. Wash under your nails. Wash up to your wrist. Sing “Happy Birthday” and if you see the two verses, you’ve washed long enough. Wash your hands every time you get near your face - to blow your nose, to wipe your eyes, even to eat.
  5. Cough into your elbow. Don’t cough into your hands. It’s easier to keep the germs contained in your elbow.
  6. Use hand sanitizer. Just make sure it at least claims 93% effectiveness.
This won’t cure anything, but it will help it to get out of you faster and not get any one else sick!😉

Hi Holly, 👋
I hope your feeling better ?! Still praying for you…
