Had our date today. We both had a total blast. Ate at an American foods restaurant, before watching a movie together and dropping her off. I’m looking forward to the next one. 😃
How awesome for you both!!! Now listen carefully – never, ever, ever tell her that you went on a public forum and rated her 8 out of 10. You got that? Think of it as a temporary lapse. Tell her she’s a 12 out of 10.

Today the girl of my dreams agreed to go out with me. I can’t believe it - I am the luckiest guy in the world. An 8/10, a dreamer’s personality and the loveliest eyes. Praise the Lord! I don’t know how to thank You enough. šŸ™‚
She might be out of his league if she were a 10/10.

He might only be a 6/10, meaning he can only comfortably date someone rated from about 6 - 8. 4-5 would be scraping the bottom of the barrel and 10 would be way out of his league.
Why does the rating even matter? Should not every girl you date (and even more so when you eventually marry) be a 10 to you regardless of how society would objectively rate her?

I agree with you, Razanir. Love someone because you love them, not because society says you should or not. I think that it is something many young people struggle with since they want to be accepted by their peers/friends.

@OP: It’s been a few days, so how is your relationship working out?

Would you have been more satisfied if he said 2/10? Are you disappointed that he finds attractiveness important?
The reason the rating he gave is a problem, is because when you are attracted to a person, you should just be interested in who they are and how much you care for them, NOT rating their quality.

Love is unconditional, and the lover does not notice the physical imperfections of the spouse.

I agree with you on everything but one thing: A lover will notice physical imperfections in their spouse. But it won’t matter to them. That’s the key difference.

Of course. By ā€œnoticeā€ I didn’t mean that they would not literally look at the imperfection and notice them, but rather would take no account of the imperfection, forget about it easily, and make no mention of it. ā€œTake no noticeā€ is an idiom which basically means that.

Sorry, I speak in a rather old fashion sometimes and it confuses people. 😃

I agree with this, but it doesn’t contradict the rating. He sees that she’s an 8, and is happy.

The way I interpreted the other post was that either looks shouldn’t matter, which is ridiculous; or he should think she is a 10, and has no imperfections.

You kind’ve missed the point.

The encouraging thing to me is that you post it here not on facebook or twitter šŸ™‚ And well done for your reactions to all those other scrutinizing replies. Being able to thank for criticism in a humble way is very rare these days.
God bless you and your new 8/10 girlfriend šŸ™‚

Don’t worry, I do the same thing at times. I’m also prone to using constructions like ā€œshe’s notā€ instead of ā€œshe hasn’tā€

Your right, he should have been more romantic. Like Shakespeare who said, ā€œIn faith, I do not love thee with mine eyes, for they in thee a thousand error see, but tis my heart which loves what they despise and indespite of view is pleased to dote.ā€

… Oh wait,:hmmm: I think Shakespeare rated his lady somewhere around a 2.

With deepest respect to all posters, Yehuda has now been blasted for 3/4 of the pages of this thread. Lets give him a break from that, lest he fear to come back to his own thread. The dude’s excited and young. Let him be BE excited and young. Pax
