i have a problem at work where frozen foods such as fish fillets have to be deforested when for sale.

my problem is a lady asked for a whole box of prawns and i had to go in the freezer and get it. but we have a new rule that we can not sell it in the box but have to take it out weigh it and rap it in paper. the thing i am stuggling with is that when weighing it because it is frozen it weighs more and i do not know how to judge this if it is a sin or not. grave or not. the lady was told before hand that the prawns would be heavy because they are frozen not by me but by a manager of mine who also told me that it is illigal to sell it in the box and made me take it out of the box and wrape it.

other times other workers will just place the fillets frozen for sale and when this happens and a customers ask for it i most of the time tell them that it is frozen is that ok. for this one a priest once told me you have nothing to worry about you are not incharge. and another said he sees no sin here. but for the top one i am not sure because I went and got the box from the freezer and I weighed it and wraped it in paper.

If it was still in the box it would be easy because i know the weight and i can take of the extra weight somehow. i dont know what to think anyone can help.

You are being scrupulous. If you suffer from scruples, listen to your priest who already told you that you didn’t commit any sin.

No, you did not sin.

yea but that was the second point i wront down. the first one happen this week and it is a bit different then the sconde one and i do not know how to judge it right.

If small little things like this stress you out and cause great anxiety for you on a regular basis. Perhaps you should consider seeing your doctor and discussing these issues with her.

Do you know for a fact it is heavier frozen than thawed? I’m not sure why that would be. It would just be more solid. It should still be the same mass, unless you are concerned about a bit of water that might have frozen with it and would melt off when thawed.

Its about a 5-10% water loss depending on the product. If the shrimp are blocked, they have water in the block to keep them whole and to give protection, if individual peices of seafood and meats are sprayed withwater after being frozen to offer protection. They are sold wholsale on the frozen wieght not the thawed wieght.
