At school there is a kid named josh who is a apostolic christian, who claims that his church is the one started by Christ, blah blah blah,
Hi Fm1,
I love guys like this who make statements that can easily be refuted by simple facts of history.
One Church.
Tell him to show you in both the New Testament and the history of Christianity that his beliefs are the same as those of the apostles.
Do they baptize infants?
The early church did.
Do they believe that communion is the actual body and blood of Our Lord?
The early church did.
Anyone baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit is not saved u must be baptized in the name of Jesus alone. blah blah blah
Matthew 28:19-20 refutes his Jesus only baptism, from the lips of Christ Himself.
there is only Jesus no Trinity. blah blah blah.
He’s way messed up here and most people won’t even consider you a Christian unless you believe in the Trinity.
In Defense of the Trinity (You will probably need this one too.
Pagan Trinities because I’ll bet you dollars to donut holes this is what he’s been taught.)
One thing: Never get mad. It ain’t worth it and just makes you look like a sinner (well, the good news is that we are…but we have been bought with a price. 1st Corinthians 6:19-20.)
1st Peter 3:15-17 is also important to you.
15: but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, yet do it with gentleness and reverence;
16: and keep your conscience clear, so that, when you are abused, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
17: For it is better to suffer for doing right, if that should be God’s will, than for doing wrong.
Never lose your cool Bro. If someone lays something on you and you are stumped, just say. “I don’t know, but I will find out and get back to you with an answer as soon as I can.” And guess what? Then you go find that answer and carry out your promise.
Listen to this MP3.
Introduction to Apologetics and then
Apologetics for the Scripturally-Challenged and see what all that fills in for you.
There’s a whole series of them…so get into that.
That should get you on your way to being a better apologist.
