first of all i wanted to know what to you think are going to be the key issues that are going to define his papacy and so have refered of the new pope as a “transition pope”? what do you make of this
My first comment is you need to show some respect. The correct title is His Holiness Pope Benedict the XVI. Please use it.

The July issue of Inside the Vatican had an excellent editorial on the Pope’s likely key issues, and it cited 3: ecumenism, religious freedom, and the liturgy. His goal on these issues will be to bring clarity/closure on them.

It also said he would respect his age and not travel as much as JP II did, and we would see him emerge is the Teaching Pope, of which he has moved in this direction already.
I couldn’t agree more. I was in Germany at WYD. While I had to come home to read the translation of his two messages to get the substance of what he said, it was obvious that he is a Teacher and that teaching will be his legacy. Without being able to understand his words, I got a great feel for his “message” as he spoke. His style greatly contracts Pope John Paul II’s whose prayerful mystic charisma was so evident.

I’ve also read his book Introduction to Christianity (very hard read and I’ve been told it is related to the translation and now that he is Pope we can depend on getting better translations of his work. Whew! I thought it was my limited intellect.) But from that book, I came to the conclusion he is one of the smartest men alive and Doctor of the Church is within his ability. Heck, he took 90 pagees to explain what the words “I believe” in teh Creed means.

History is way overrated! Did you know, a lot of High School football coaches teach History? That should be the first piece of evidence to support my statement.
Wow you nailed it for me. Not only did i have a history teacher who also was a football coach but i also had a teacher who taught both econimcis and goverment and was a football coach. They made the subjects entertaining

Exactly, lets not lose Respect for Our Holy Father. Next time Please address Him accordingly.
I’m not so sure it’s so much a matter of not showing respect as much as it is people sensing “Ratzinger’s” humbleness, warmness, friendliness, and humanness. But that’s my opinion. Personally, when I become Pope, I won’t want people to refer to me as his holiness all the time. 🙂
